It's pretty fun, but yeah, I'm sure it's not for everyone. For one thing it's pretty bullet curtain-ey (at least compared to most of the games that I've 1cc'd), and for another there's a ton of RNG (I think, anyway). Then there's the matter of strategic suiciding (which is pretty toned down compared to some games, and I actually didn't really do it except for unintentionally, but it's there), and rank.

EDIT: normal mode has less extreme rank, and is easier than hyper mode. However, the way autobomb is implemented actually kind of makes normal harder than it might have been. Then there's parallel which is always on highest rank and has a true final boss battle, but has more frequent extends. Also there's a ton of subweapons and shot types to choose from.

They are quite fun, but require a lot of planning. Also they have some interesting score utility because you can send one out at a group of enemies and have it alone raise the multiplier to x64 and get x64s. I do a little of that in my run, but Zaarock (Val / Wide / Cluster Missile) does a lot more of it in his run on YouTube.

aside from an embarrassing stage 2 death it was mostly smooth sailing up until the stage 4 boss, where from then I basically hobble from checkpoint to checkpoint on my amassed lives to somehow get the clear. figures that the run I actually 1CC is a really sloppy one. oh well.

haven't decided if I'm going for multiple loops yet. definitely not right away.

Well done myco; looping Tatsujin is no easy feat. Watching your brave flailing in the face of repeated deaths in the last stage made me really thing you weren't going to make it. And that cruel, cruel death after the final boss, what a bummer! Still, great job beating a hard, hard game.

If you haven't tried it, I'd recommend Deathsmiles on Steam as a good followup to Mushi. If I can clear it, so can you! I've been playing Raiden V on Steam and that game is really excellent - top-quality stuff.

Thanks! I used the Peplos (I think that's what it's called anyway.) It's a really fun game, I've been meaning to go back to it and beat it with some of the other ships. Almost did it with the Dino 246 (R-Type style ship) but the slow movement speed takes some getting used to.

If you can beat Jitterbug without bombing (power-up is OK), he drops a 2-life item, which basically means you get 6 more bombs to use on Tyrannosatan. That should help a lot!

Learning how to score a little in the Volcano stage (at level 3) can also help ensure you get both score extends if you aren't already reaching them.

Yeah, I too totally cheesed the final boss by gritting my teeth and beating Jitterbug without bombs. The extra fire-power can help you get out of most -but not all- of the trouble. Tyrannosatan's health bar is pretty huge, after all!

Touhou 16 easy mode. I won with 4 or 5 lives left (don't remember exactly), going for normal next.
