Re: I DID IT

Post by finisherr »

I just played a credit of God mode. Barely made it to the second stage ha. Really fun to play though. It's like playing the board game Operation, only it's a maze that scrolls. Actually, that doesn't make it sound fun, but it really is awesome.

Side note, I discovered that it's way more enjoyable for me to play ports on consoles than to play MAME. Kinda makes me want Japanese consoles for Xbox 360 and PS2.

I definitely feel you there. Even though I know I'd be progressing faster if I was savestating in mame, I enjoy playing much more on a console. I haven't touched Garegga on mame since I got the saturn version (though I may have to in order to knock down the last couple walls).

Do yourself a favor and keep an eye out for Raiden Fighters Aces if you don't already have it. You might be surprised how many good games you can play on just a US 360.

I'm in the same boat. I enjoy ports much more than MAME. Might not be the most efficiant way to get good at a game, but for me, its the most fun.

I think the US 360 list looks like this so far:

Mushihimesama Futari
Espgaluda 2
Muchi Muchi Pork/Pink Sweets
Eschatos (dunno if this is good or not, but its RF)
Raiden IV
Raiden Fighters Aces
Deathsmiles
Dodonpachi Dai Fukkatsu (once its released in PAL region at least)

And thats not even touching XBLA

But the jp 360 is definitely worth the money IMO. I'm looking for a good jp ps2 at the moment as well.

@Deca: I finally got my copy of Gunbird in, so let me know when the rivalry will begin

I still need to order myself a copy :( I've been looking into picking up a scart converter for my PVM and cable for my saturn because I'm REALLY sick of looking at Garegga through composite. Maybe I'll just go for it and get everything on this next paycheck, I was eying a certain copy of Gunbird and will just keep my fingers crossed that it's still there.

I think I'm going to get back to work on my RF2 clear in the meantime.

Should be fun to have a Gunbird contest. Earlier this year I set out to finally 1-All a Psikyo game and was successful. It felt considerably easier than the other Psikyo titles I've struggled with over the years.

Saturn games look fantastic with S-video as a cheap alternative to RGB.

They should release a donpachi, dodonpachi, and daioujou combination port for 360. Ports of those games seem to be out-of-print and I think plenty would love to play them on 360.

@Dunpeal

Eschatos is fucking amazing. Get it. DAT SOUNDTRACK, and the games pretty good too. It's also got JSS and CS and those are pretty damn tight too. I hated Original's scoring system at first but then I grew to love it. Many people seem to have the same experience, it just gets better the more you play it.

I knew I could do this for a while but never really bothered. Also any time I did try, I would make stupid mistakes.

No Miss No Bomb till the extend part where I screwed up and died.
No Miss No Bomb stage 3 boss
Died in Stage 4 once
Died once in stage 5 and bombed a lot due to all the BS in it
No Miss 3 Bomb on the boss using the third bomb to get into the safespot
Died once on stage 6 stage part, bombspammed stuff
Arrived at boss with 1 spare life and 1 bomb
Arrive at final attack 1 spare life no bombs
Quickly died
Bombed 3 times cause I was not risking that

Okay, so I officially beat Futari Black Label in Original Mode 3x in a row today. Time to move on to Maniac.

Side note: I'm not too sure why I'm not into scoring in these games just yet. Maybe it's because I can never quite figure out just how it works.

Just played my first credit of DDP since getting the clear, and 1-ALLd again first try :P

I guess I might actually try to get the loop, since I seem to have survival moderately figured out. I still need a lot of work on the st5 and 6 bosses, 6 I have practically no practice against at all and haven't even attempted to dodge its final pattern.

How much worse is Hibachi than st6 boss?

Scores go in the high scores thread. And wouldn't it be better to just post your high scores without commenting about how you were "about to post them" first?

Hibachi at least looks a lot funner.

And I chained DOJ BL Stage 1 a few times. I'm not sure how to get 800+ hits on it, but getting 25 million on that stage is fine with me. Still been messing up the 1-all attempts though. It does feels easier than DoDonPachi as I usually get to stage 5 with Exy while I rarely got to stage 6 with the higher bomb stocks you get with DDP. I think it's because the stages and bosses are actually good unlike stuff like DDP Stage 5 and 6.

I actually looped something. First time ever doing so. I quickly got destroyed though. Also was my first 1-all of the game.

Congrats man. Dunno if it's just me sucking with a keyboard but I have a really harder time than most people with DOJ for some reason.

No offense as I'm sure that was very difficult but 2 weeks is nothing.

Well, he has been playing it for a while before that.

How far in the loop is that game over screenshot? And do you plan to try to 2-all this crazy game?

Oh, I wasn't trying to take anything away from his achievement. The 2 weeks thing just seemed a little odd as that's generally how long it takes me just to get used to a game. Him having played it before does explain it, though.

Good work Deca! That ship type is the only one I know how to use decently in DDP. I need the power and speed!

Sure, it's an easy mode, but I'm still very happy with that. :D
