hmm... sooner than I expected... interesting. But the impressions I've heard of the arcade version have been pretty bad, so I dunno... :-/

A lot of those problems were supposedly fixed with the consumer version, which is probably going to be somewhere in the port.

3 months? Explains the sales flop.

If someone gets this and has a 4:3 TV let me know if it gives black bars on 4:3 screens. We'll know for sure then if they've learnt their lesson from Guwange and Deathsmiles IIX.

Wow, looking at the 720p version of the vid it looks like they actually went and upressed (or perhaps made stuff higher res to begin with) all the backgrounds, instead of halfassing it massively like in Espgaluda 2 for example.

Did not expect this so soon either.

The bullet streams in Shin appear heavily based on those from DS2X (specifically with the drawn aiming lines). The combo system looks like a merging of arcade and consumer version (the combos seem partitioned like arcade, but with no upper-limit like consumer ver).

I haven't been paying any attention to this game since it came out, so this is the first video I've seen. Gives me notes of Progear with the enemy design, bullet spray and bullet shapes. All those blue torpedos bring back fond memories of that CPS2 fan whirring in my ear. Does it play anything like Progear, or am I just fooling myself with nostalgia?

New stages?

From what I understand, the "consumer" version fixed a lot of gameplay problems, but it still seemed too short.

If they can actually add a couple of good stages to this, that would peak my interest.

Are we going down the "from what I read", "supposedly", "someone said that" road again?

If you've played the game, speak up. If you're hear to talk about the impressions that some Japanese master relayed to some guy that has a blog, that your friend translated with Google.. why bother?

It's going to be a relatively inexpensive port. Give the game a shot and see if you like it. Cave hasn't done that much wrong, you'll most likely get your $70 worth out of it. If that's too big of a risk then I'm sure some whiz in Russia is working on the emulation and there will be a new thread very soon.

Yeah, actual impressions would be rad.

Even if it were totally the worst thing ever, I'd still at least be curious... I really love the aesthetics, from what I've seen so far... that's enough to at least get me to try it.

I've spent a lot of coins on the arcade game, and I played the 360 version today and have to say that I like it very much. I will most likely buy it a week or so after it's released when the price goes down a bit. This game is definitely aimed toward fans of Progear. I wish I had checked out the menus more today rather than just doing a straight play-though seeing how far I could get in my 5-minute time limit. Today during the slide show presentation I saw stills of several new levels such as an under-water stage and was looking forward trying it out but I never saw it. It's difficult to talk about without pictures, but it is an incredibly beautiful game. The hi-res version I played today is even more beautiful and sold me on getting a copy. I'm not wild about the gameplay, but it is still fun.

You couldn't choose anything, but the main screen definitely had "Shin", "Arcade", and "Arcade Score Attack". Don't remember any other details.

I just remember that the second option was "practice". Didn't read past that. 8)

Okay, so it's like Progear with ... time travelling bullets or something? Is that what those bullets were doing?

I guess that just posting a screenshot of the menu would make sense.

Oh, it has A new stage. Well, that's fine. Hopefully it's a long one, and a fun one, like the Ice Palace in MBL.

What's the original's game length? About 20 minutes or so?

That's a nice bonus for all the people who shelled out for the LE PCB.

This is my most awaited Cave port of them all.

It's probably too soon to ask, but I too am curious if I should get my hopes up for a region free or a NA release of this. Like a couple of posters above have said, it looks beautiful, and even though I'm not sure about the gameplay yet, I definitely want to give it a try.

The trailer is now available on the JP 360 store. I won't download it but I'll just assume it's the same as the one already posted in my original post here.

I was thinking this as well. They knew they would port this anyway so the backgrounds might have originally been in hi-res and then downsized and touched-up for the arcade version.
