Do you guys seriously think Thunderforce III is better than IV, or are you voting out of nostalgia???

TF3 is much better than TF4 and much better than most games of the top 25.

I'd say TF3 is a more solid game than TF4. TF4's got a lot that TF3 doesn't have, but I also feel like it has some bad flaws: a couple of the levels are dull and should be shortened or edited out (including the boss rush level where the bosses take forever to beat if you don't have the powered-up claw), and it has massive amounts of jerky slowdown that 3 doesn't have. 4 is probably overall going to be more fun for a newcomer to the series (or people like me who have played III to the point that they can do it blindfolded).

I am leaning towards saying that Elemental Master is better than both of them though :)

I also like 3 a lot better than 4.

Someone needs to make a Thunder Force III rom hack with difficulty inserted in, like bosses that last more than 3 seconds, rebalanced weapons, something.

After finally playing Mars Matrix after this poll I can honestly say its place is well deserved, infact due to it been part of the STGT2010 Ild hope that it would move up a notch for STGT2011, still as Cave release more STG every year it would make it harder for none Cave games to retain their rankings.

Also im really looking forward to STGT2011 as every man and his dog has played Ketsui so we will finally get an answer to the war between the KDF and the anti - Ketsui faction who say that Ketsui is only so popular due to it been some kind of rare mythical beast and most of the ppl voting for it havnt actually played it.

And talking about mythical beasts, both MMP and Raidient Silvergun will be getting regoin free releases very soon aswell. STGT2011 is shaping up to be very intresting :)

I knew quite a few people liked Gradius V, but I never knew it was always so high on the list. I am pleased by this.

Though I'm not sure how to feel about the Thunder Force debate.
Why is it called the Vic Viper/Warp Rattler? Because the Options trail behind it in a serpent-like fashion, and the iconic front fins are designed to invoke the image of a snake's fangs.

DDP or DOJ should be the only Cave games in the top 25.

That notion doesn't make sense no matter how you look at it.

Love or hate Cave games, this is still a little absurd.

Don't understand why people love Battle Garegga so much. Only thing I like about it is that the music is Namiki's best. I'm not too fond of the rank system and all that.

Yeah, I figured that's how the majority of the forum feels. Maybe I'm just sick of the Cave's formula. :|

Those two games are more similar than their others though. Why only one, and it has to be one of those two?

I find Mushi Futari and Dodonpachi to both be pleasent, in quite different ways. For one, I can actually score in Mushi. Pachi just hands me my ass. I adore them both equally

Every Cave game feels the same as DDP, but with a new scoring gimmick. DOJ is the ultimate refinement of Cave's system.

I do love me some Futari. Now I'm just contradicting myself. I quit.

I can see your point. Sadly, I have not yet played DOJ. So, the games feel fairly equal to me. I suppose its possible that I will try DOJ and not want to play any other Cave game. Or at least, any other donpachi-series game.

... I think being able to play jap ps2 games should be my next goal, there are more than I thought

I think you are been alittle unfair as many past shmup developer studios have their own flavour of shmups just like Cave has. And cave have dabbled with different styles aswell with Yagawa shmups like Ibara and MMP, the Cave horis plus Feveron and the Esp series. Still if you dont like bullet hell you are out of luck though.

EDIT im curious as to just how popular the different Cave shmups are, I know DS and the old pachis were popular in Japan, so was Guwange with that poll they ran but what about the other games? Were there any more flops like Ketsui was?

I am being a little harsh. The same thing could be said for half of Psikyo's games.

I never felt the love that Psikyo was trying to put across. I've only tried Strikers and Gunbird, though. But yes, their games all have a very similar feel, just with different themes
