If it is then I'm gonna try and pick that one up. If it's not then the lack of tate just isn't good enough.
No. It does have an 'original' mode which is a bit wider than the normal 'arcade' mode. (about 2/3 of the screen i'd guess)

@Turrican: wanted to note that you rule for collating this. It's basic information, but shocking what a nuisance it can be to find - even if review sites cover these games, they far too often fail to provide notes on things like absence of 60Hz. Not sure if you're still updating it, but if you are:

Castle Shikigami II
support: CD
*can turn off sprite filtering
*story scenes (sub-babelfish translated in NTSC US release) removed

Homura
support: CD
*no stage select

Whether the asterisked notes are important or clutter best omitted is your call. I've barely looked at Homura (seems very good, it's just in the ever-more-daunting 'to do' pile), so someone might be able to correct my stupidity regarding absence of stage select. I'm pretty sure it's not there, though, and I consider it roughly as annoying an omission from a home port as tate would have been, though I realize I'm probably in a minority (of one?).

You might be playing in 16:9 tate mode. There are two tate options in the menu, and the second one is a more traditionally sized image for 4:3 tv's.

Sure, and thanks for the contribution! :)

by the way, you wrote: "homura, no stage select" - was the arcade supposed to have it to begin with?

Not so weird - this thread isn't stickied anywhere, so it only resurrects when people have questions about these localized versions. And most of the info comes from my own test, but I don't have time/money/will to buy all the schmups out there. :)

Thanks to you as well, Raiden III info added.

No clue whether the PCB had stage edit, though I doubt it. Sorry, should've been clearer: I just meant there's no option from the main menu to play, for instance, stage three on its own ('Stage Select', 'Practice Mode', whatever). Maybe unreasonably, I think of at least a rudimentary stage practice mode as standard for a stand-alone port (in compilations, I'll consider anything beyond basic emulation a bonus). Could be worse, I could be throwing a tantrum when I don't get built-in replay recording.

Sega Classics Collection
I'm sure this is correct based on playing it last night:

Sega Classics Collection

50/60hz switch: no
save: yes
tate: not required
support: DVD

The last field is the one I'm not 100% on. It has a DVD logo on the disc and sleeve, but as mine is a press copy I don't have a manual to know for sure. Is the DVD logo on disc and sleave enough to say the support is DVD? I don't even know what support means!

Thanks spadgy! Yeah, it's very likely a dvd - PS2 Cd-Roms are blue-tinted, and by "support" I meant the physical support the game was in at release. Sometimes this changed with versions, for example Shin Contra is on CD, while PAL Shattered Soldier is on DVD. I thought to include this kind of information in the list because cd-roms tend to be quite noisy when played on PS2.
