Ketsui: Kizuna Jigoku Tachi Extra (XBox 360)

Post by ex.machina »

I got my copy today. I didn't have chance to play the PCB before but in my opinion the game plays very fluent and smooth. Also 5pb invested a bit more time into the menu controls, so as someone mentioned earlier no more shitty loading times or weird menu control, etc.

Didn't have much time playing yet, but will invest more during the next couple of days. X Mode is available right from the start, but once again you just start out with a single continue. You earn more continues when you invest more time playing. I got to 4 continues after 2-3 games.

Thanks for the info. :)
So, can you rotate the menus to Tate too?
(Not like blex where the game was in Tate but menus in Yoko..)

Yes, you can finally do that (annoyed me a lot in DDP). Also the game finally correctly remembers your menu settings (this was another weird issue in DDP).

By the way, the credits appear to double. I got 1, 2, 4, now 8 credits.
Within just 1-2 hours. Good for suckers like me, lol. ;)

Unfortunately no.
However what I liked is that you can position the screen and reduce the wallpaper brightness (I think that was another option not present in DDP). If you play in tate mode, that's a bonus (well at least for me it is).

thanks for the info. screen positioning was indeed not possible in doj...

1. Thanks for this great new thread.
2. Does the port give the same soundtrack options as DOJ-BLEX (PCB, PCB STEREO, ARRANGE)?

BGM can be set to "Arcade Stereo", "Arcade Mono" or "Arrange Version"

Great soundtrack by the way.
Oh and by the way I meanwhile got "free play". So that doesn't take much longer than around 2 hours I'd say.

M2 gave us that delicious scanline mode!

This had already been confirmed on Mihara's blog months ago.

Some sad news for us Europeans that I just thought about - we could be in for significant delays (regardless of shipping method used) due to the continued presence of the Icelandic volcanic ash clouds that continue to plague European airspace at the moment.

Didn't he also say that Ketsui players will be disappointed with the port? And that Steins;Gate is a poor game, and that foreigners can't post scores for Japanese shmups?

I'm just posting proof.
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.

I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

His final word on the port quality was that it was equivalent to the Futari port IIRC, which for 99% of us means that it's an excellent port.

So 5pb finally did a good job then?

They missed out on the scanlines / HD graphics, well I for one would really like that, but I'm awfully happy the game is out and without the flaws hat still plague DOJ

JAPJAC wrote: 5pb. have really done the business with this conversion. It's the best Cave conversion I have ever played surpassing anything by M2 and Cave themselves included. There were a lot of doubters but I always had faith that this would be the dog's bollocks and it really is. It's the king of Cave games, the king of modern day shoot 'em-ups and the most loved by the Japanese so it was never going to be rubbish. Ketsui veterans and newcomers alike are in for a real treat. Playing Ketsui without the wait/slowdown is a real joy and something that I asked 5pb. for ever since I first played the beta at a TGS a couple of years ago. It doesn't look as good as the PCB does on a Japanese RGB arcade machine but that is the sad reality of the modern home TV-Game system age unfortunately. All those that bought a fancy high res. telly are to blame for that one. However, it plays just as well and removes the graphical glitches and there is the option for the wait/slowdown to the eliminated if one so desires. I don't like the arranged BGM but again, it's a nice extra for those that might. This game is proper mint. The end.
10/10.
Great post, thanks for your impressions dude! :D So since your dreams finally came true I'm guessing this is the last we'll hear from you please?

Well, the post did say "The end" after all. Let's pray.

This thread is about the X360 port of Ketsui, not about baiting JAPJAC. Let's keep it that way.

I had a chat with Videogameimports and they have not had word of any problems but said to remain mindful that it could be delayed.

This could be a bit of a ballache for the weekend.

I doubt anyone (including Cave) has the original art assets for this game, so there never would have been a chance for a high res sprite revision. I think when 5pb first talked about HD graphics (2 years ago), they meant "We can totally smear the shit out of everything using the 2xSai filter... folks are gonna love it!"

Just watched all 4 videos from 5PB up on XBox Marketplace (JP) and the new Play Vs. Play, which is the MOST ENTERTAINING Ketsui run I've ever seen. That girl's gotten some fancy moves now. She really seems to take it seriously now and also seem to really enjoy herself. There's no guest from 5PB, so they get into some 2 player shit later in the (rather long) video.

Has anyone installed the game yet? Would very much like to know the installed size. Though, if the load times aren't too bad, I might not bother this time...

I watched the Play x Play last night... Hikari indeed seems to have translated her screaming impulse into a "move in circles like a madman" impulse. (Though you can see plenty of hilarious reactions out of her from the first BioShock 2 video...)
