A lot of DC games looked poor via VGA and it's no surprise that they were generally low-res 2D artwork type, and not 3D. Some DC games did not work at all via VGA, which is why they had to be denoted as compatible or not.

I always kept an XRGB-2 connected to my CRT just for these games, so they could be appropriately scaled and displayed with scanlines. The results were always much better. Of course an LCD would have made them look even worse, whether with the XRGB-2 or the VGA box.

hahahahahahah oh wow, cool no problem if thats your attitude you can count me out of supporting anything you do ever again . Seriously people need a reality check im not gonna go buy a crt just to play some doujin junk + why advertise as VGA compatible and not go into detail? all they had to do was say CRT would be best? Sorry guys but you are a joke .If anyone wants this copy i have for 5 quid send me a pm you can happily have it for its real value .

I would still like a basic tutorial though on why mame is capable of displaying low res games perfectly at hi resolutions?

Because MAME typically uses hardware to scale. Connecting a low-res source via VGA and then having the display itself scale further (which all LCDs do) isn't always pretty and the outcome is HIGHLY dependent on the quality of the LCD itself. The game isn't "falsely advertised" at all.

Thank you finally some straight answers that make sense to us non serious shmuppers with lcd,s , appreciate that man .

Then why are you posting with such tenacity on a board that is mostly comprised of "serious shmuppers"? Its like you are in a nudist colony, bitching about erectile disfunction while refusing to take your clothes off.

Sorry your new fangled "LCD" technology isn't up to the task. I know, the guy on the Home Shopping Network said 1080p is the best thing since your grandmas banana bread, but actually... *looks left, looks right... whispers * 240p is actually the best of the best for 2D pixel based games. 240p is the real HD. In fact, it even says so right on consoles that support it in plain english. 8)

Buy a CRT or get a proper Arcade Cab. These are the premiere setups to play Fast Striker in order to enjoy the benefits of Scanlines. If you are whining about the side effects of displaying classic games on modern Lquid Crystal Displays... welcome to 5 years ago. For the past half decade people have been trying to solve all of the wacky problems (lag, overdrive, image scaling, interpolation, etc) that modern displays introduce when rendering classic game consoles. Coming into this thread and raising hell as a result of how out of touch you are with the technology is a bit out of line.

This kind of thing is antagonising people and I think it's easy to understand why.

Rein it in david. I'm not sure wether you're referring to the race or using an unpleasant and outmoded term for Down Syndrome, but I am sure I'm not happy whatever way it is. You can contribute to this conversation in far better ways, right?

Some come on everyone, Let's try and not let this thread go off the rails eh?

You can brag to people about how fantastically rich you are. And women will scream and throw their underwear at you when you walk down the street, like you're Tom Jones. You be amazed at the true power of Neo Geo.

Those conditions are not ripe for getting a high score though are they. I don't see that as an advantage.

You can play it on a cab and you won't have to listen to your creaky DC laser mechanism.

We sold a home MVS version with reduced price for 9 month or something, it's currently sold out. Last Hope Pink Bullets for MVS was sold out after only 48 hours for 399 EUR...

Thanks for contacting the mods yourself though - makes our life easier.

A thread spilt is coming very close with all this CRT/VGA stuff. Just so you all know.

david, lots of games support higher resolutions than the graphics being used. several of the cave 360 ports do this. why you assumed an MVS arcade port would redraw the graphics to a higher resolution is beyond all of us. when ports do this, they advertize this. like Deathsmiles, and Futari, and DDP DFK. this was not advertized, only the support of the video connection was.

LOL you have never been to Rubik's cube solving forums then. I think these forums are pretty relaxed. I personally think any "retro" (using the term for 2 gen old and past, not for Space Wars) gamer should have a CRT. I'll be playing Fast Striker on the same TV I play my Atari on, cuz it would look horrible on an lcd.

I can see why you were upset, as the advertisement was a bit misleading. I was fairly steamed to find out none of my guncon stuff would work on my lcd, and they didnt even advertise that it would

All that being said, damn I can't wait to play this game

Because i inquired with ngdev a few times on the quality of the game using VGA and they refused to answer in the same way they refuse to acknowledge criticism now and in the past. Its no biggy im ready to let it drop my current situation just didnt fall right this time and i would love a crt but am yet to find anywhere especially around here that i can get one from . Final say on this game stands though it IS a great game and please be the first dev to make a neo geo tate shooter :D .

Got this last week. Pretty fun game, really reminds me of the older 16 bit shooters. A lot funner for me than Last Hope as well. Looking forward to future releases from this dev.

Is this going to be the last DC game ever?

We already made the whole VGA issue more clear at our shop and our FAQ. We hower never advertised the game will look great on VGA or being highres or anything. We always acknowledge ciritiscm, sometimes we just don't agree with them, but still we always improve them. See Pink Bullets or just Fast Striker.

Still wating for petersons serious score competition he advertised in the Fast Striker score thread.

Play Asia today changed the release date of Fast Striker to "Jan"
No specific date. I assume that is because they don't know when their shipment will arrive.

RHE, can you provide any estimate as to when PA might be able to start shipping?

It will take about a week or two. DHL (Airmail) seems to be quite slow these times which is annoying. :|

I once shipped another package via the same service to PA and it took not even a week, I dunno maybe it's just no good idea to ship between christmas holidays. The best way to get our games is NGDEVDIRECT.com anyway: we ship 1st, fast and offer free stickers (as long as stock holds). Even when you're outside of Europe, it's worth it. :)

Thanks for the update.

I would have liked to order direct from NGDEVDIRECT, and initially began to place my order there.
But I hate to say it, I paid $42 to have mine shipped (with combined shipping with a few other items) from PlayAsia.
To purchase from you guys directly would cost ~$54.60 to receive the same game.
Does not compute.

Highly doubt it. Their next game sounds like a good fit for a console release.

"Btw. our third game is a platform game which involves both shooting and exploring of huge worlds. Unlike Fast Striker, it uses hand drawn pixel art and Music is by Rafael Dyll.
Like LHPB it's a rather small game in the 512 MEGS range...more info to come."
