I wonder how much better Silent Bomber's voice acting is in its JP release. I bet the cutscenes are still annoying though!

The JP version is actually less likeable in that respect. The hammy voice acting gives the US/EU version a certain goofiness that blunts those unfortunate stabs at dramatic gravity. SB should've just stayed in the tutorial's "THOSE WERE CIVILIANS?!" psycho PTSD mode if it wanted theatrics out of a game about a man striving for only the beefiest of demolition via his mine-shooting gauntlets and airdash boots.

My more recent shmups are Raiden Fighters Aces (back when it came out), and Raiden IV LE. Don't have a 360 yet, but I will... someday. And I'll be damned if I'm getting reamed financially by the folks who will drive the price up because they're "OMG L@@K RARE!" when I finally do get a 360.

Last shumps I got were Bomber Raid and R-Type for SMS. I also got a couple borderliners with Space Harrier and Rambo: First Blood Part II (aka Secret Command(o)).

Kollision, I see you picked up some SMS games as well, including a couple TecToy published versions. How are G-Loc and Air Rescue?

I don't have any TecToy versions, but I have some EU versions. So far I have Bubble Bobble, Marble Madness, Sonic the Hedgehog, Moonwalker, Alex Kidd in Miracle World, Assault City, Gain Ground, Asterix, and Captain Silver.

A few of these came to the US, but Captain Silver US only has 1/4 of the game and the import version (which seems to have come out in Canada, as well) is complete. The EU Sonic sells for cheaper than the US version (which is exactly the same). Moonwalker is the same as the US, but I got a good deal on it. Alex Kidd was ordered from eStarland (located in the US), but arrived with the EU packaging and manual.

G-Loc is borderline crap. Well, it never was any good to start with (why would you want to play it when you have the mighty After Burner?).
Air Rescue is sort of a slow paced Choplifter. I played it a couple of times and found the chopper hitbox rather large. That's why I'll get back to it using a Mega Drive controller instead of the stock SMS one.

After Burner on SMS isn't so mighty, though. It's too easy to dodge in that version and it feels a bit clunky (I don't have the SMS one, but I have played it quite a bit and I have ABII in Shenmue II DC).
