Recently Purchased SHMUPs
I was surprised I couldn't find this topic anywhere on the board, so here goes.
Post your most recent shmup purchase here, along with its format. And hey, maybe a little comment, maybe not.
GUN NAC [nes]
The Guardian Legend [nes]
snagged em both on ebay, very inexpensively. currently I see Gun nac selling for 50-80 USD and I snicker.

Re: Recently Purchased SHMUPs
Well, not exactly the same, but there is this thread - some people mention which title or two they've bought most recently. Will leave this open for now...versionfiv wrote:I was surprised I couldn't find this topic anywhere on the board, so here goes.
Arrow Flash
Got it with another game as an exchange for the *second* DOA Grind Stormer cart I won on ebay.
I believe my first thought was something like "this is alright; but at least it's better than Wings of Wor." Shortly afterwards, I start playing that one again and realize how much the opposite is true. I even got to stage 5 for the first time...

Yeah, Arrow Flash is a very poor game indeed. Only cool things about it are the intro and the last image after you beat it.
My last acquisitions were
- Battle Garegga
- DoDonPachi Daioujou (PS2)
- Fantasy Zone (PS2 Sega Ages 3)
- Psyvariar 2 (PS2).
The first 2 I got here in the Shmups forum Trading Station!

Death Smiles for 360. Before that, it was Senko no Ronde (JP) and a bunch of other titles that came in a YJP package:
I haven't actively browsed/used this forum in many years and it's no longer an accurate representation of me.
I have retired from genre-specific content creation after 13 years, but I'll always love this little genre in my own personal way.

Raiden 3 (PS2) - Is it just me or does the hit detection have a mind of it's own ? Sometimes a bullet barely scraps my outer wing and I'm dead, other times bullets can graze a decent portion of my wing and I'm fine. Meh, I only paid $10 for it (found it at gamestop of all places) and the music on the final stage rocks.
I've got Esprade coming in the mail, will be my first shmup PCB, can't wait......

So I didn't make a bad choice getting KOF XI over Raiden 3?Shumps4Free wrote:Yeah, Raiden III didn't really sit with me well. Luckily, like Aba, I was able to get it without too much damage dealt to my wallet. Good thing there's Fighters Aces to bring the Raiden name up a few notches.
Come check out my website, I guess. Random stuff I've worked on over the last two decades.

You made the best choice in that situation my friend.null1024 wrote:So I didn't make a bad choice getting KOF XI over Raiden 3?Shumps4Free wrote:Yeah, Raiden III didn't really sit with me well. I've never had that problem on the PS2 version, so I'd say it's you. The game's about speed-killing everything in Double Mode, on Arcade difficulty; it's the most rewarding way to play it...Aba'suto wrote:Raiden 3 (PS2) - Is it just me or does the hit detection have a mind of it's own ?
