There's a Japanese website about it, with a lot of pictures here
http://www5b.biglobe.ne.jp/~mx-5/memo.html

What is this for? Is it a famicom game?

Honestly how are you not able to read Japanese enough to know what system the game was for, but you managed to find a random ass page like that? Hehe.

Only thing it says on the page is that the game was a doujin, so I imagine this means PC.

Not bad score attack clip in Recca on that site: 528k

I couldn't find any info on this game and or what system it is for either. I'm going to go with PC as well. Hopefully the site updates and sheds light on where to try it if not providing a video clip for Laserfight!.

MX-7, meet your slightly shorter long-lost Japanese cousin.

I guess.

In Japan, in the 80s? I doubt it. More likely it was an MSX or PC-88 game.

Yup, correct. Was for MSX1, published by Login Soft.

That looks pretty crazy for MSX1. I should put it on a disk and into the ol' MSX2+ sometime (if it doesn't need anything special to run and has already been adapted, of course).

Doesn't look like it needs any add-on to run: only specs I could find(google) are 'MSX1' & '32kb RAM'.

Seems like that is all there is. I can't find a disk/rom image anywhere.

I *think* it was a Takeru release, which means it's extra heinous to try and find. At least in my past experience.

These guys seem to agree about the Takeru business. I wonder why it's so hard to find.

When was this released? Looks a bit Nemesis 3 inspired in its looks.

Can't find a ROM for download, but did find the game itself, on floppy disk, for sale.
Only one copy available.

Some with the right tools buy it and dump, for great justice!

P.S. don't moderate me, I'm not endorsing any piracy - it's a digital preservation measure.

He said knowingly with a wink and a sly smile.

I agree. If there is a copy for sale, someone should definitely get it. At the very least, get a collective of people to pitch for the cost and then dump it. Are we great?

I can grab it if someone wants me to, but I don't have an MSX2 with a disk drive at the moment, so there would be a delay. It's cheap now, but if it goes up, I may ask for a small donation.

Let me know, or if there is someone else more capable, go for it. :D

I prefer the "buy and send to someone" route.

I can contribute via paypal, consider me a possible donor.

P.S. Icarus, you were right about the wink.

I'm with Turrican. I can contribute too if necessary. I personally have no MSX and or set up emulation, but I have a friend who has both.

My Sony MSX2+ has a disk drive indeed.

BUT:!!!!!!!

That doesn't really help actually, as far as I can tell, unless you have one of them newfangled special multi format ROMzcart things for the MSX.

But I don't think you need one.

Now, this is what I used to take regular old fashioned PC 3.5" floppies and put MSX ROMz on them:

http://www.lexlechz.at/en/software.html

I think you can do the process in reverse (I should practice with a self-made MSX2+ gamedisk; I know I was wanting to upload a proper rip of Undead Line without trainers and crackteam info hacked into the header).

Put me down as a MSX owning person of interest/possible donor.

If the game is on a floppy disk then one can simply stick it in a PC (one equipped with 3.5" floppy drive obviously) and dump it to a disk image.

Yeah, I suspected so. It's not like those damn unreadable amiga floppies...

Yes & if you have Linux you don't even need any special tools, just type:

dd if=/dev/fd0 of=./disk.dsk bs=512

in a shell.

Is that string correct for the 720 KByte floppies?

I found this method some time ago on a MSX related website.
It should work but I can't test it right now, need a working disk drive first...

I have disk drives galore. Maybe I should set up an old PC with Linux and give it a try.
