Then by all means- nobody is stopping you from purchasing one!. Play asia gets the used one- the pcb retailers get the new(er) pcbs. If anybody needs helps, then I can forward some price lists. Whether it be a supergun or a cab- then there is an option for everybody!
he forgot to mention it also has to be freeBattlesmurf wrote:I really cant wait! I need another CAVE game!

Arrange it? You can't arrange being able to dump the security MCU's from what I'm hearing.
Then again I dunno shit about emulation. I mean, according to Haze, CPS2 wasn't "properly emulated" until mid last year when they finally decrypted the protection, even though the games had been perfectly playable for years and no one ever noticed a difference.

I think the fascinating thing about this thread isn't about when Ketsui will be emulated, but about the people who don't want it to be emulated.
Do you really think that the emulation fraternity is based around a group of people who look at a problem and think - "there's no way we can do this"? You can pretty much rest assured that they are quite the opposite of that mentality.

Just in case somebody wants to follow the discussion instead of going OMFG over "magically appearing" quotes from somewhere...

Dude, im making my Cabinet now, but its going to take me a year or
so, long story. Until then its Ports :/
I dont care if Ibara gets dumped, how long until you think
its going to be playable on MAME? sometime in around 2015?
Ill be buying the PCB once im up and running, dont know weather
i should go Supergun or full Cabinet, still in the planning stages :/
The Ketsui dump part was a joke, i dont know anything about the game would be nice to see it on MAME and then grab it for my Cab if i like it
Anyway, i dont want to get inbto a player/collector debate but if all the
CAVE games can get dump and bring down those PCB prices by the time
im ready to buy ALL THE BETTER!

Reality prevents me. Besides, even if the emulation is perfect, which it won't be for ages, you will not see people panicking in a frenzy selling their boards. Very few people that have cabs have proper MAME setups that would do the game justice. But don't the words 'magically appear' make you optimistic too?

So, people aren't worthy if they don't already own the PCB, but now there is the possibility of it being emulated in the next couple of years, the goal-posts have changed, and those playing it emulated still won't be worthy, because they might not be playing it with a proper arcade stick?
Were those your thoughts of one of those top Ikaruga players who was playing the game with a modified SNES pad? Yeah, I'm pretty sure when he was playing the game he was having a lot less enjoyment than anyone else who was playing it with a sanwa joystick...
I don't think there will be panic selling when the emulation finally arrives, but I think you'd have to be hopelessly optimistic not to expect the value to drop.

Not quite. PCB hoarders (brought to the spotlight by Sardius trolling them) have gone lengths to sabotage or subvert emulation attempts to keep them from happening, for fear of the price falling due to the game itself being "less valuable". I'm talking people who don't even play the damned games for fear that the game will be damaged through play and their "investment" wasted (when in reality not actually letting them boot will make them much more susceptible to bit rot, among other issues)GaijinPunch wrote:You are high.DJ Rectal Prolapse wrote:This seems too good to be true. In my understanding, most people who have enough cash to shell out for PCBs won't magically start using MAME instead. But for those who could only play unemulated games in arcades, this will mean they won't have to drop coins in anymore. Whether that will hurt Cave any, I don't know (I think not, though).

A LOT of people buy Kits at the release for ~2200$ and they know for sure it will cost 1000$ less in a year.....no diff. if they play it or not.....Twiddle wrote:Not quite. Our own EOJ destroyed the game with a DC Pad.Were those your thoughts of one of those top Ikaruga players who was playing the game with a modified SNES pad?
Apples and Oranges. I'm referring to a few thousand people that own a game. I don't think a large percentage of them are going to participate in a mass exodus and sell the PCB b/c they can play it on there crappy computer setup.I'm talking people who don't even play the damned games for fear that the game will be damaged through play and their "investment" wasted

interesting that guru mentions ibara dump as well as ketsui as a "magical" appearance this year...
for me, it doesnt matter when the emulation happens.
people were complaining about no ketsui port, or emulation.
i said "let's do something about it"
some people said.. "hah! fuck you! - it's not gonna happen!"
some people said "ok, lets try.."
so we did, and look what happened in the space of a few months... if we get it dumped, then we did what we could, a small group of a community took charge and made a change instead of just whining about it.. wether people liked it or not.
and for me that's enough, the next steps are up to someone else, the path has been paved.....

They're not the majority here, obviously. I'm just explaining the hubbub over people saying that certain people will sell off their collection because of OH GOD, IT'S BEING EMULATED (which was a rather common panic in the emulation scene) though I have no idea why collectors-that-are-outside-the-venn-inclusion-zone-of-players selling off their collection in a panic is a bad thing here since there are resources readily available to play PCBs on this forum and panic selling because of emulation can only be a good thing because it will drive aftermarket prices lower for the actual PCBsGaijinPunch wrote:Apples and Oranges. Actually, I got my 1-life Clear 29.5mil with a Gamecube pad. Which some would argue is even worse. When I played on the DC port I used a Saturn pad most of the time.GaijinPunch wrote:Our own EOJ destroyed the game with a DC Pad.Were those your thoughts of one of those top Ikaruga players who was playing the game with a modified SNES pad?
CVM got a 34mil ALL (1-life Clear) with the DC pad though.
That was my point though - you don't have to be sat in front of a bulky cabinet with sanwa sticks to be able to enjoy a game just as much as someone who does sit in front of a bulky cabinet. I thought GaijinPunch was sort of suggesting that unless you had the real article in front of you, you wouldn't be having as much fun as someone who owned the real thing, which we all know is total rubbish.
