Post by RyanDG »

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=209609

No scans or details to go with it yet, but it looks like Seibu Kaihatsu is reaching out at us from beyond the grave.

Details:
- Includes Raiden Fighters, Raiden Fighters 2, and Raiden Fighters Jet.
- Superplay DVD included.
- Uses Xbox Live for Replay upload/download as well as Score Rankings.
- Tate modes included.

Unless they're hiring all three members of Gulti plus another who left Seibu (S.Yano) I don't expect the port to be anything but a MAME emulation.

Which I know they're smarter than that.

And if it's just RF1 I'll probably get all possible achievements within the first play.

The second coming of Raiden Fighters Evolution. This makes for an interesting development indeed.

There was a project on the Xbox which was cancelled years ago. Maybe its a case of following through on that project. Was that called Evolution? Can't remember it was a long time ago.

I only like the dedicated live games, the ports don't seem to have that "feel" that you get with the SD versions. Even Galaga lost something down the line, can't put my finger on it though.
This industry has become 2 dimensional as it transcended into a 3D world.

Interesting that it's a real game and not a download. Considering the name, maybe a comp?

This (usually reliable) site says it's actually on PS3.

But why the 360? Isn't that virtually nonexistent in Japan?
Of course, that's just an opinion.

No, not again, the torture, I can't take any more of this.
Please let me know when they'll cancel this.
Just too good to be true.
Somebody please translate the entire article.
Who wants to trade their 360 for a JP PS3?
Any takers?

It's not exactly a mainstream title either. Compared to all the "next gen" systems 360 is the system with the most shmups and borderliners though some of them aren't out yet. If the game turns out to be regionfree then it won't be Japan only anyway :D

All Japanese 360 games so far have been region-locked.

The Japanese releases have, but if it gets a HK/Asia release (as most Xbox 360 titles do) it should be region free.

If it gets a HK/Asia release the jp version will be region free

The second one. I should've made that more clear. Nearly all HK/Asia releases on the Xbox 360 have been region free.

Nope, the Japanese version is region locked. Yay for globalization and free trade.

That the Wii sucks.

In any case, even a Wii port would be upscaled/filtered, so it makes no difference which shitty current-gen console it comes out for.

I'll take the Wii's excellent Classic controller, reliability, and more realistic price over a 360 any day.

Yes! It's great to see this on the radar again. I was one of the ones who was really counting on the original XB one to play these games...

Let's not forget though that the Raiden Fighters games run at a resolution which the 360 can't display full screen, so don't expect a nearly perfect version at all.

Given how poorly Senko no Ronde did... who knows.

At any rate, this is good news, since I liked what little I played of these in MAME.
