I don't see the Gradius II VHS on the list

http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k60872349

also hi5 to whoever won those guwange/strikers 1999 VHSs a few days back.

I see just two Gradius V DVD's on the list when there were these four, + the JPN Gradius V that came with Options, Perfect and the booklet thing:

• Gradius OPTIONS was the pre-order incentive in Japan
• Gradius V Official DVD The Perfect was a separate, stand alone DVD in Japan to be bought separately
• Gradius V Breakdown was the pre-order incentive in the US
• Gradius V Breakdown Director's Cut DVD, which was given out to the top 40 scorers in the US competition (thanks Kiken)

I think that's all correct. I did hear mention of a fifth DVD, but I'm not sure what that could be...

EDIT: Spelling.

Not sure who plays on these (got my eyes on the auction at the moment), but I'm assuming it's FUKUDA (Rayforce), T3-CYR-WIZ (Raystorm, R-Gray 02) and KRS-TTR (Raycrisis, WR-01 and I think WR-02 as well).
(Though according to the auction listing the players are associated with FUKUDA's team, which should be interesting.)
Will be nice to have a higher quality copy, especially since the Ray series is a bit of a fave of mine.

I wonder if fellow shmupper, HD, would interested in bidding on this YAJ auction set of complete Superplay Ray series DVD set?

It would great if you can score it, Icarus. Sven666 sure does have quite an extensive collection of Superplay VHS tapes and DVDs. I'd be surprised if Sven doesn't already have those particular Ray series DVDs in his private stash by now. ^_~

I'll try. These should be HQ-ripped and shared with the community, since the current versions going around are blurry as hell.
Thankfully I have an Intensity Pro plugged into my PC.

Also...

Image

I like the metallic embossed front cover. And it'd do as a replacement for my current copy, which is quite literally a copy. ^_-

EDIT: And another.

those are actually VHS tapes and they usually go for quite a bundle.. if this peticular auction is for DVDs they have most likeley just ripped the VHSes.

that metallic R-type VHS is that HDKs factory? looks like their style cover..

there is a bunch of zuntata related laserdiscs, darius 2 and raycrisis aswell as i know of.

Yea, looking at the picture a bit closer they might be VHS tapes. Just can't tell clearly from that angle. But even if they are DVD Rips, I already have the tapes anyways so I wouldn't purchase them again. I also got that R-Type VHS.
I'm not sure if they are HDK but I am sure that both superplays were produced by the same people.

For sven666,

Now that you mention that the Ray series was originally released on VHS format, it's really easy to get them converted into DVD format for posterity if you have the right A/V equipment. Also if the Superplay VHS tape(s) haven't been played very much either, then the resulting DVD copy will be of higher quality, of course. ^_~

Granted some Superplay VHS tapes are embedded with Macrovision protection scheme. There are solutions to bypass that particular scheme if it does come up. An average VHS tape will last for about twenty years give or take, hence the need to preserve it on DVD as soon as possible. ^_~

Some stores such as Target no longer sell such VHS tapes -- there was a time when you easily could. The VHS format is obsolete...it's days were numbered when the first DVD players arrived on the market scene.

For Icarus,

That Gamest Vol. 39 of ZBL-NAI's run on a DDP PCB that you have shown in your last post, is pretty cool for watching opening DDP montage alone. Even better if it's been ripped to DVD-R for posterity. ^_~
