Can someone enlighten me as to what these two are getting at?

Dave_K's point is a very valid one. Just b/c you're a collector doesn't mean you're going to keep everything: that's pack rate, or "fucking slob" depending on your threshold for cleanliness. If I know down the road (a month, a year) I can get my money back if I don't like produc X (or simply don't have the funds for product Y) it's going to affect my opinion.

A collector is a collector is a collector. I think you guys are describing something more like me. A player. I collect things I really like, but that's a small number. I buy stuff, play it, keep it for a while, sell it. If I make a few bucks cool. Then I have other stuff I buy for the purpose of resale, but it's more of a means to support my playing habit, not make a living (thankfully).

Only if you have the ROM and know how to do it. At this point, rtw is the only one on the planet known to be able to do this, so you now you can safely answer this "no".
So the answer is "yes"

Thanks for the confirmation

That's not a "collector" in the same sense. At least, not to me =P I'm a collector in about the same sense you are, which is not at all the sense in what Dave K. was meaning.
I am weird the same way folks are about buying for a games value. I'm really OCD about the condition, I want them in the same shape I got them in complete if I have the parts ect. Then again I'd rather pay 35.00 for a game without a spine card if it's in decent shape versus 50.00 or 75.00 ect.

I don't play everything I own, I mean I have at some point and some I haven't beat I plan to someday. I got threw cycles, I'll get on a kick and rediscover something as time goes buy.

Still there are random things I've bought even though I know I won't play/beat it. Like Snatcher on PC engine, I'll play it on sega cd so I get it, but I'm guilty of buying something just b/c I'm a fan/dork for it and really get a kick out of the package ect.

But I deffinately play alot.. about all my freetime at home when not with company.
Damn Tim, you know there are quite a few Americans out there who still lives in tents due to this shitty economy, and you're dropping loads on a single game which only last 20 min. Do you think it's fair? How much did you spend this time?

ah yes, cave's secret european division...

it's so funny, everyone comes out with so much crap about "let's ship them off to cave to be fixed!" - "cave's gonna be pissed!" - and does anyone even send them an email to consider??

*tumbleweed*

respect for the guy who got off his ass and did it himself - seems like the rest were just gonna stare at a rare, very sought after, but utterly fucking useless PCB gather dust.

well unless it makes them come out with a public apology for implementing poor design, to everyone who bought this piss-expensive PCB only to have it die they can kiss my ass.

its not like RTW is gonna make a steal out of this anyways *cough*cps2*cough* since the maximum ammount of reviveable boards are only 100...

Isn't that about a dozen for users of this board alone? Then we have the non-English speaking crowd that doesn't even come here.

i wouldn't be surprised if half the BL's were in the posession on western players. this game is OLD, at least in terms of arcade releases. when they do come up for sale, even if the price tag is not so high, what arcade operator will spend $700+ on a pcb that's 5 years old?

the worst news really is that when you're buying one now, just because it worked when a pcb retailer took it in, doesn't mean it will work by the time it has been sold :?

Hi RTW...

Is that 4 boards you have fixed now :D ? Have there been any that didn't work?

I plan on sending you one but need to order that battery first.
