X68000 rarities, united efforts to seek them ?!

Post by caincan »

it's a fact. on the occidental web, it's missing many games reviews even mention of the name ! doujin rarity publicity doesnt help too. we must unite our efforts to seek these rarities !

as prove recent example by gigadrive32 : http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.ph ... ght=x68000

(but no way to find the .dsk of b-system.. erased on their site :( )

___
too, here are some examples that french fellas in japan have heard about, but seems very hard to get !

kyukyoku tiger (a very well known game but cant find the floppy yet !!)
zaikoku
soho blue phoenix
maho no shooter
cyber core
R+R
hellbound (easy to find .dsk but doesnt run in x68winhispeed)
tatsujin

here's another "recent" example we just found, There must be others, fanatic shmupers , try join this quest and unite our efforts :)

I could swear I saw that game up for auction on Yahoo! Japan.

Anyway, concerning overall rarity, yeah the games are generally damn hard to find...unless you're searching for any of the Nobunaga's Ambition disks. Heh, Phalanx is pretty easy to find.

...and I'm still searching for X68 Cyber Core and Undeadline.

Ninja Edit: Wow, that game is pretty crap. Good thing it's free doujin.

You might want to edit your post before a mod does, since linking to roms is against board policy.

Also, I was talking about an original boxed copy, not a rom.

ok.. even if it's illogic 15years old games, very obscure ones (how many people at this time would talk of this in earth ? ...) even are considered illegal if copied

2 other doujin shooting games

another GEM ! Cave style, Gigawing style. never related anywhere in the "gaijin" net !

when you hear that Triangle service boss said influences x68000 had.. you can imagine how blind we are not seeking these things too :/

I recognize Cyber Core and of course Kyukyoku Tiger, that's all. Did KT really get a X68k release? I know I asked this like last week, but I've forgotten the answer.

Tatsujin? Never heard of a release for it. I'd like to see this, though.

The others? Hmm...all doujins?

well it was mispelling of title.. kyuukkyoku tiger is easy to find.. it's labelled Tiger heli

sure there are many doujin games, so that makes things worse to get informations you guess (but that's the challenge too !) .. as this otoko_dama which came in 1999, and is really good

Tiger Heli is the predecessor of Kyuukyoku Tiger, they are completely different games. They can both be found on Toaplan Shooting Battle for PS1.. if you can find that ;)

sure i know that why i made a laugh, but we dont choose names of archives games we can find, it could have been named tetris or qix or anything if someone archived it this way  ...

well well, people talk about all the same games and dont find more ? (personaly i'm sick hearing Cave in most shmuppers mouths  ...), there's another world out there !,

there are more rarities :P and it's perhaps the first time you can spell these names in occident ! .. just see these pictures from a x68000 fan who just played them, big thanks to Hagane ! :!:

motiv8tion !

we found a curious "RR", but no way to know if it was what we wanted... seemed to be gaia in autoexec files... curious.. but it blocked when starting.. we went further and 6th sense was good ! it was finally this bastard R+R and we succeeded making it work with a batch of tricks

no hard drive tricky way support,
no way to find how to format a disk
but we made it and found finally how do blank bootables .xdf and start it in another way :)

and it's a cool game w/ good music !

"Last Batallion" is actually the sequal to the PC-Engine shooter "Override".

Very cool thread caincan! Thanks for all the detective work.
I very much enjoy seeing the state of games from yesteryear.
Maybe someday I will also take the initiative to enjoy their gameplay

i's only time and seeking. thanks for all these "amateurs" skills programming. and thanks for the few french people around who share this interest of discovering 8) . there are some unknown rip-of or original ideas around (i can say i love "Kekui", it's roots & manic :) )

the one i'd like to test but we didnt find yet is "Project moon", which was apparenty offered by the boss of Triangle with his dvd Shooting love, there must be a reason if he liked to share this game !!.

another batch, it becoming harder to get more... thanks to "Redstar" tests, the 2 last are TOP !! :D , pcengine spriggan, starsoldier & co spirit :P

Someone asked about Kyukyoku Tiger... it does exist for the X68000, and it's called Kyukyoku Tiger. I know because I own it... and it's sitting on the deck, drying in the sun, because it got water-damaged during a flood two nights ago. Right next to Cyber Core :(

Damn, man...

I suppose it's a good thing those disks are supposedly tough...

Oh yeah, the disks are fine. So are the instruction manuals (love those plastic cases). It's just the outer sleeve that's damaged.

Did you know that some types of packing peanuts dissolve in water? Environmentally conscious, I suppose... but when the basement floods, it just makes everything all gooey.

Wow, awesome work! So much to go through. I'll start digging once I buy the actual hardware. Emulation doesn't interest me that much in this case. Thanks for sharing your finds caincan.

Hmm, I always wondered about X68000 emulation. This emulator runs well then I take it? I'm going to check it out.

Check out EX68 and Win68k High Speed. If one won't run a game, the other will.

As a big fan of Cho Ren Sha I find this very interesting.

There where some very interesting games made in the early to mid nineties. In hindsight it was kind of a transition period between old-school and new-school, which meant that some very interesting concepts where developed that where never seen again.
It is powerup of laser.

Oh, the Japanese microcomputers have an awesome assortment of not so well known (outside of Japan) shooters, and other obscure titles. Check out the PC98 platform. Lovely assortment of games, with most being doujins, and freeware now due to age, and rarity.
