Harmful Park Score Attack Mode 2.6 million
If you've ever wanted to see what scoring in Harmful Park is like, look no farther! A new record for me (barely). While watching the video after recording, I found a couple areas where I could "easily" improve, but it's still the best HP video out there!
-The face ship can be x16'd. Only got x12 this time... I bombed too early in case it didn't die the first time.
-The battleship that comes at the same time as the face ship can also be x16'd; need to bomb the group of clown faces before once, weaken the ship, then bomb them all.
-One of the UFOs at the end can be killed with a multiplier - at least x5. I think I've worked out a method of pulling it off fairly often, but pulling it off in the heat of a good run will be tough. Need to go into it with a full stock of specials, and the other will probably get away.
Also a couple of gem drops and mistimed bombs throughout the stage, but those aren't major sources of points (100k+) like the above are.
Would like to do a video of the normal course, but it's been over half a year and it seems like a lot of work to retrain myself... probably not much interest anyway.

I uploaded my no miss of Original mode in Mushihimesama: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUcv4G4g9T4
I actually got really lucky with this run. I spent a couple of days practicing the stages and bosses in training mode, then I managed to no miss the game on my very first attempt. There are still a few sections that I haven't fully memorized, so they're a little sloppy since I'm just winging it.
I appreciate Original's simplicity because it gave me a break from more complex games, but the complete lack of a scoring system means I'll probably never play it again. It was fun, though.

Haha, I didn't notice before that you beat me by less than 1500 points. I don't feel like ever touching it again either though so I guess you win!iconoclast wrote:I uploaded my no miss of Original mode in Mushihimesama: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aUcv4G4g9T4

R-Types (HD) - Content and Gameplay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-W5uukuWJKE
Meet R-Types played on my Plastastion 3 (by PSN/PSone Classics). Released for the Playstation in 1998, R-Types is a compilation that gathers two of the greatest classic shmups: R-Type and R-Type II that were released respectively for arcades in 1987 and 1989 by Irem. Besides the two games in a excellent console conversion very close to the original (arcade), R-Types also contains a library of interesting extras: genealogy, history and data from both games in the series. In this video I present quickly the entire content of this collection and also the gameplay of the complete first stage of R-Type and R-Type II.
Follows the Index of this video:
00:38 to 03:38 = Intro CG;
03:47 to 04:14 = Options for R-Type R-Type I and II;
04:36 to 05:16 = Genealogy;
05:19 to 06:19 = History;
06:25 to 07:18 = R-Type's Data;
07:22 to 08:04 = R-Type II Data;
08:19 to 10:54 = R-Type Gameplay - Stage 1;
11:17 to 14:04 = R-Type II Gameplay - Stage 1.

∀kashicverse -Malicious Wake- ALL Clear on Akashic difficulty
Having only one life and one mistake being able to screw you completely over makes the game rather hectic.
I enjoyed the game perhaps even more than HELLSINKER. I really liked stage 3 and all the bosses. HELLSINKER had cooler stages and more content though. The game's supposed to get an update soon adding a new mode so I'm looking forward to that.

Raystorm HD (XBLA) / Intro + Stage 1:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L846HadDuNc
This conversion to HD of classic Raystorm was great and the game is really beautiful! The only thing I didn't like were the explosions that are too weak. Raystorm always been one of my favorite games from Taito with beautiful graphics, solid gameplay and beautiful soundtrack.

What an excellent run. Interesting that you were able to trigger the Omake without doing any of the cycling of the first phase pattern with the Stage 2 boss, so you must be right about it being a score-based trick.LtC wrote:∀kashicverse -Malicious Wake- ALL Clear on Akashic difficulty

Okay, a Ketsui Omote. That's nice. Good job.
What I have today is something considerably more humble (as in something that i lazily threw together in a few attempts)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ujZXp8i61JE
No-miss no-bombs pacifist Ten Desires Stage 3 Lunatic. Obviously very easy but quite fun nevertheless. A neat little distraction from my current much more taxing projects. Boss is very cool. A lot of bullets, all very random and moving in all sorts of directions. More shmups should make patterns like this.

Gradius III and IV (HD) - Content and Gameplay:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pRswKljnF8w
Comments: Gradius III and IV is a great compilation launched for Playstation 2 on 2000 that gathers the arcade version of Gradius III (1989) and Gradius IV (1999) with several welcome improvements, such as: difficulty better balanced with the presence of various levels (from easiest to hardest) and an option named [Wait Level] that allows the total abolition of unpleasant slowdowns that existed the original arcade versions. The controls are very responsive and smooth using both d-pad or analog stick. Due to these factors, I believe these are the definitive versions of classic Gradius III and IV Gradius. In this video, I present the content of this collection and I play the first stage of both games (from 04:18 for Gradius III and from 09:35 for Gradius IV).

Started playing Strikers 1999 again and have been reworking a bunch of strategies I wasn't happy with; here's a quick one for the 2-5 boss. Tentative goal with the current strategies is 3.2 million.
EDIT: One more. 2-7 boss with the double tech. Fun stuff.

Re: General youtube shmup thread.
Gunbird 2 stage 2-4, using Tavia.
This is definitely one of the tougher stages in the game survival-wise. All of the enemies are aerial, which means you get suicide bullets raining down on you relentlessly for a whole minute. The blimps in the second half are a big threat to Tavia since she has trouble killing them with her weak melee attack. The boss is also a real pain; the first form will screw you over if you don't destroy all of its parts at the right times. I'm looking forward to the day when I manage to NMNB past this stage in a real run.

My personal DBAC 1CC - 1 LIFE run
Hello everyone!
Here's a good run I did on DBAC over at the Game Grid Arcade in Utah.
I know it's not the best run you guys have probably seen, but it's my personal run and I was kinda happy with it.
Comments are very welcome!

Yeah I always wondered ciox, how do you access these secret areas? I could 1cc Medium Unit and Ultimate Final without a scratch yet I NEVER figured out how revision works.ciox wrote:I finally got a recording setup that works, so I think I'll start by posting videos of the secret Psyvariar bosses, I've seen one of Gluon-X on nicovideo but the other three have never been upped anywhere.

Revision is a bit harder but it's the best if you ask me, just watch ISO or Kechiguma play, there's good videos on youtube.Kaiser wrote:Yeah I always wondered ciox, how do you access these secret areas? To access the XX areas you need to beat the Gluon stage in Replay Mode, but to appear in Replay Mode it must be beaten in Arcade Mode without continuing, like any other stage.
You also have to repeat this each time you want to play an XX area, Replay Mode lets you play two stages and your first one must be a win on Gluon.

I uploaded some Strania videos recently:
Hard - 16.022.160
Expert - 15.845.620
I think this game gets overlooked because it's different from the typical bullet hell shooters, but it's still good and more people should play it.
