I just gotta get this off my chest. As a lover of all things nature I'm just crazy about trees, and seeing trees in a shmup just makes me go weak at the knees. My favourite trees in a shmup might just be the trees on the 1st level of Ikaruga, they look so lush. Anyone got any favourite foliage in a shmup?

The trees in Sky Shark conceal hidden tanks! I like trees with gameplay effects more than trees with just nice graphics.

Oh man, those things drive me nuts...heaven knows how many lives I've lost to one of them when playing that game.
Trees...the only other ones that pop immediately to my mind are the boss in Twinkle Tale and the mid-boss in Cotton, though I'm sure I'm forgetting others.

i i i i like the trees on level 3 of Metal Slug X, is that a shmup??? i mean you shoot things up but it has gravity but not the same as the gravity on earth because you appear to float more when you jump than you than you would in real life, so i dunno. I need to know because the stress of not knowing is killing me.

Definitely the fairy trees!
And the trees in Namco's Assault are great for shootin', particularly because of the sound effects.

Not necessary. There wouldn't be any real contestant to the aubergine-spitting volcanos in Parodius Da! anyway.

I keep seeing these awful new threads open up and I think "This one is too stupid, no one will post on it this time."
Apparently that's not going to work. All this shit is going to cause me serious brain damage.

Serious threads never get the same response as shit-threads. Why? Because it's easier to post in a shit-thread and just fool around.
I can prove it. I'll start a serious thread. I'll post a translation of a shmup-homage I wrote wome month or two ago. See how long that thread lasts.
