Seems to be up here:

Unless it's banned on the continent for some reason? Maybe that wallpaper of Ryo punching his dad in the nuts

As a last resort, Hamster's official ACA site is handy for finding stuff. Same goes for stuff like ShotTriggers... I notice a lot of people have trouble finding the games via PSN, even when they're available in that region.

PSN search just seems terrible at doing what it's supposed to. even being perfect with spelling I've had the correct title show up way down the list many times behind a bunch of random DLC and crap.

I just use these sites .. better than the official sites IMO. Occasionally nags you for their premium service, but that's about it.

Yeah, Sony doesn't seem to care much about search optimization, and lets companies just steal tags and do whatever. It's a mess.

"normal mode" is really odd. It's completely the same speed curve as master mode, but it won't let you play past level 300. A bit of a pointless mode, even for tutorial purposes.
Master mode is the default mode for this game. But Death mode is what really sets it apart, fantastic fucking game!

Here to proclaim that the Rollicking Szunder Tsu is the fun bags! Seldom do I encounter that much hard eract!on from refined shooting and fabulous BMG. Pumping Stage 1, I was asked in an approving fashion: "Dude, is that Donkey Kong?!", to which I only answered in the affirmative: "Oh, yes, indeedy!!". Stage 3 BGM "Aquatic" is outstanding! It really "feels" wet upon hearing, nay there's 'ever a drop of H2o to splash and squirt!

Only a curiosuty.
i've seen that in the ACA NEOGEO games there's the auto-fire. The original game on NeoGeo got the auto-fire? or not?
I don't want to play without it, or my controller will break soon

Finally finished a long, arduous project at work and suddenly I have an inordinate amount of time to play STGs. Lovely.

It's been nothing but Namco lately - the treasures have really piled up on ACA. Currently working my way though Assault, which has just enough fine touches in the movement and mechanics to make it feel like a great skill game. Only getting through the first half-dozen stages before I have to drain a credit, so long way to go for the clear.

Burning Force and Assault Plus have joined Night Striker on my most wanted.

No autofire in the originals…I’d view the ACA versions as a quality of life improvement. For both your fingers, and for your controllers.

would be helpful a list of games that originally not implemented the auto-fire, at least i would know if i'm playing something "as intended" or with quality-life improvements.

EDIT: literally i can't play without auto-fire.

There are exactly zero games that are not better with autofire of some sort, unless you count weird shit like that thing in Hellfire where the weapon select thing goes insane if you shoot while pressing the weapon select button. M2's version fixes that, so even that is about to no longer be an issue.

The rule of thumb is play it the way that makes it fun. Lots of Japanese arcades actually have autofire setup on games nowadays, and you can readily purchase hardware to play older, super mashy games with autofire. You don't have to use something crazy like 30hz auto either, you can usually set the rate to something you can mash normally, just without having to sustain it for a half hour long game.

I could've sworn we had a whole-ass thread about this topic or something

Here's my take if you care: Games are made to be fun and you're the player. Therefore, go and optimize your fun. Whether this means using autofire or obliterating your finger to the bone is up to you.

Hadn't thought about that before; noticed this in Cosmo Gang The Video, could imagine you're right!

What a charming game. You can really feel the effort to get a new marquee arcade title out of the venerable ol' scoot/shoot.

As a connoisseur of screen edge mechanics, I got such a laugh out of this:

As a general rule, if the autofire is an optional setting in the UI outside of the emulated game, the game didn't have it built in. If it did, you likely don't have to enable anything.

The only Gaplus machine I saw back in the day had the Galaga 3 name. I never have understood that title; Wikipedia says it's because it's the third game in the series after Galaxian and Galaga, but then shouldn't it be Galaga 2 or Galaxian 3 instead?

So the title screen and marquee said Galaga 3, but the challenging stage still spelled out Gaplus. Imagine my confusion at the time wondering what the hell that word was or its relevance? :P

Apologies if this was discussed somewhere earlier in the thread, but I recently moved from Switch to PS4 and am looking for a few games I just can't find.

Is there a reason why Tecmo's Star Force, UPL's Atomic Robot Kid, and N.'s Terra Force aren't available on PSN?

It was a quick conversion kit to change the title of the game in an attempt to attract people familiar with Galaga. I remember seeing at least one Gaplus machine, though I have seen Galaga 3 more often.
