Maybe captain trustworthy meant tomorrow next month. Dude went back underground immediately after this post 2+ weeks ago.

I know this crossed the "It's my own fault for not demanding a refund by this point" threshold a while back. But I keep telling myself the absurd demands of sticking this out mean it might end up a valuable curio if it ever sees the light of day. Also I just like the game.

And then there's the minor hitch of reports of people requesting refunds, him saying "ok, done," cancelling the order but not actually giving the money back. How much do I really want to go through that rigmarole?

Maybe he got to the warehouse and ran into IRL Luca Brasi who stuffed a rag in his mouth and demolished him from the ankles up with a fire axe :o HE DEAD  That's a good excuse right? Image

Uh, last I checked Luca Brasi sleeps with the fishes...

The thing that's been driving me a little nutty about the "big box of Game Paradise carts" reveal is that Game Paradise was supposed to ship like 6 months after Radirgy, yet this is never addressed. Is there also a big box of Radirgy carts in another warehouse? Did he just forget about it after he got the shipment of hats? He keeps talking about the delay with the vinyl, but what is going on with the game itself?

All the Game Paradise and the Radirgy carts are right there in that pic. You just need to use the patented Chris Tucker counting method.

Joke's on me for thinking there was even a snowball's chance in hell he might actually have the games.

Like others have said, it's more likely the warehouse let him take photos but not leave with the merch because he hadn't paid for it. So he doesn't have shit and never intends to ship anything. But it's a pretty neat scam. I wonder if he'll do what the Ebay scammers do and start sending out empty boxes with tracking so he can claim he sent them their products?

Welcome to October 2022! What new material could he possibly come up with as a stalling tactic next, you ask?

Big warehouse protocol news. My favourite part of this is "working behind the scenes." WHAT SCENES?? THERE ARE NO SCENES.. Great to hear he's working to get things rolling tho. Looking forward to that big roll start whenever that drops.

Hey, I recognize that logo. That's the brand of cable modem I'm using. I guess they're a company that actually ships stuff out, though.

In retrospect, even though it took around a year, I guess I should consider myself lucky that I even got my copy of Psyvariar Delta from them at all. Condolences to anyone who's lost money on this.

Well, the broadband/supply chain portion of the business actually changed it's name to Vantiva. Which makes it odd they still have the old sign (perhaps news hasn't got TN yet?)

Just a quick update half a year after the last post to let you know there's been absolutely no update. Anywhere. The guy ghosted everyone immediately after the last tweet saying how hectic all that behind the scenes work was.

I see there are still people keeping hope alive and fighting the good fight on Twitter & Facebook:

Do warehouses like this toss out things after a certain amount of time? They must, right?

This question would imply that there was a warehouse to start!

The entire saga is batty. I've been part of it as well. That money has been kissed goodbye, it's never getting refunded and no one is ever going to ship anything unfortunately.

What's infuriating is they will delete any previous tweet that had a negative response, then tweet something new a bit later, get bombarded, and delete *that* tweet. I've made a point to be very vocal alongside everyone else, just hoping they don't manage to get anyone else's money too.

Like anything else, you pay for space. Once the money runs out, so does the space.

The Epic Saga of The Game Paradise: CruisinMix Preorders

Post by pulsemod »

one place I worked kept an order of goods for seemingly forever. similar situation of the guy posting the order info online to get customers but never paying for the goods. we probably should've ditched the stuff, but any chance of getting paid for something involving sunk costs was worth keeping it around I guess

Assuming the warehouse isn't full, that'd be my guess as well. The warehouse probably wants to keep the stuff on the off chance of eventually getting paid.

I wonder if it would be possible for customers to contact the warehouse on their own? Maybe a deal could be struck that cuts out Dispatch, lmao.

Also: I have a friend who set-up an e-mail filter that sends a a refund pestering message every 10 days.

Last I hear (a couple weeks ago) they've yet to start bouncing.
That money has been kissed goodbye, it's never getting refunded and no one is ever going to ship anything unfortunately.
Unfortunately, I'm sure this also describes 99% of the customers. I'm just hoping there's at least 1% that served a court summons

I believe it was only the arrange mode in the Saturn version that didn't loop. But it's not a straight port of that release, they put a fair amount of work in. There's the arcade mode, a story mode with added classic Jaleco characters and voice acting for all of them, a museum mode where the characters talk with each other about the games they're from, characters from other companies like the Tatsujin ship, online leaderboards etc.

It's not perfect though, like not all the modes allow tate for some bizarre reason.

The Saturn version's normal mode loops. But it's not the AC loop, which is famously tough. It's nerfed.

Perikles wrote:What's even more important, however, is a clear cut between the original arcade game and the Saturn version, at least for the Normal Mode. I was wondering at first how it is that quite a few people seemingly effortlessly managed to get so deep into the second loop of the Saturn port, this thread cemented my suspicions further. I also asked Kollision and he said to me that he doesn't recall blazing fast suicide bullets and whatnot in the second loop, which I'm sure he would've. As such, it is safe to say that scores are not directly comparable.
Maurener wrote:Have been playing the CruisinMix PC port recently (which is pretty much based on the Sega Saturn port from what I see) and yes, it has a considerably easier difficulty compared to the original arcade but there are some design changes; for example, The Stage 3 boss have a collision box so you cannot sit above to him while you can do it in the original arcade, In the Space Invaders section from Stage 5 the enemies shot the random-ish bullet spray first rather than the straight shots in the original arcade thus making this section more difficult, you cannot easily milk the last boss as you end up getting hit after getting the points in the mouth.
I'd happily fork out THE KING'S GOOD POUNDS for an accurate home release. Guess Hamster will have to get round to it eventually. Although by that point, I'd wanna see P47 Aces more tbh, to complete the NMK Ultra Violence WWII Hori tetralogy (P47 Thunderbolt, USAAF Mustang, and HachaMecha Fighter are all on ACA). Characters talking to each other happens to me all the time tbh :o

No tate in Saturn mode; maybe not the only one. I always assumed it was because they didn't care to 1) create tate versions of the extra levels like the karaoke stage, and 2) make tate versions of the story sequences. But who knows really.

I have the Mega32 arcade cartridge and board, which I've not really played and don't have a setup to do so unfortunately, but I have looked at it enough in the past to note that the Saturn game is downgraded graphically for some reason. It's been so long since I've looked at either version now so I don't remember all the specifics and some of this may be wrong, but I remember the opening to look quite a bit worse with the scaling not looking the same, and in the stages like the first with the digitized preredered graphics, there is color reduction on Saturn over the arcade original. Based on other ports on the console, I'm not sure why any of this happened.
