This kind of Japanese styled game has always interested me. I ended up playing through Okami entirely in Japanese for a good 30 hours. My favorite Cave song is 黄泉の華 from Guwange. I pretty much love traditional Japanese stuff.

I don't really care about the story a great deal. Same with Odin Sphere, the gameplay was where it's at.

Apparently this is running on a Wii emu. His PC must be very, very high end.

(off topic, sorry)

I just tried playing this game now and it runs 60fps at the title screens and 55-60 with no action (just running). My FPS dropped between 40-48 (peaking at 52) during fight sequences. Probably could get it higher with some optimization and closing out all my running programs.

I'm running amd 4800+ x2

This is why you don't emulate new games.
Buy it -- it's great. All the great stuff of Odin Sphere, but lacking the bad stuff (repetitiveness, at least at this point, and I'm 17 hours in).

Sorry to derail.

I don't think id buy this game anyhow. I only played it for 15 seconds just to see if dolphin really could emulate wii games - that it did well. It seemed like the run of the mill samurai warriors, ninety nine nights hack and slash that gets monotonous after 15 minutes.

Wouldn't this game be region locked to NTSC-J Wii consoles anyhow?

Yes, region-locked. I don't really get your critics though, hack'n slay has rarely been so much fun as in Odin Sphere and after what I've seen of Oboromuramasa it seems just as enjoyable.

Speaking of region locked, Death Smiles for 360 is confirmed region locked now. Did this get reported in here? Can't remember.

I agree this has gone off topic quite a bit. Last one for me. All i'm saying is the game looks great for a 2d game but i'm so tired of the ninja/samurai hack and slash. It just seems like the only new thing they bring to the table are moves everything else is generic.

Although I would have loved the Xbox 360 port of Deathsmiles to be region-free, it would have sure hurt knowing that I just bought a Japanese Xbox 360 console only a couple of months ago. :D

Too true. Especially with the Raiden Fighters ports coming stateside as well. Not that I don't want as many people as possible to play the game, but that would be a swift $300 kick in the balls for sure.

lol :P

Regardless- even if DS was region free- there's still plenty on J 360 that I enjoy - not to mention any upcoming stuff- that more than justified the purchase to me :)

cant say im in that boat yet, i only have shiro and blex. I eventually went back to PS2 DOJ, and got tired of grinding for achievement points in Shiro.

Regardless, I would be completely fine if DS was region free, or any J game for that matter. It simply means when my J-360 dies, i would have one less reason to rebuy it. Unfortunately there have not been a lot of J-games that interest me, but it's likely just that M$ never got the right support for unique Japanese titles.

I can argue that when I bought my Japanese dreamcast, (nearly a year before the US launch), and import carts for the saturn i got a lot more value out of the investment.

Since I have never played DS, I hope that it is the fresh experience I have been waiting for. I have purposely limited the time i watch videos of the game so that it is still "new" when I get to play.

I know this has been mentioned a few times in the thread, but is the MBL content going to be available day one or released one month after. I think I have seen it stated both ways.

I realize that I used the word "I" far too many times in this post.

I actually ordered it from a local japanese importer/retailer. Cost me more with sales tax, but I wanted to support the shop. I hope he actually gets it on time.

There is a set of gamer pictures on the japanese marketplace now for 150 points. Also under the game description on the xbox live page it says it has online co-op. Is this true or a misprint?

The trailer and gameplay vid are also there too, which are worth getting if you want to see the game in high def.

I bought the gamerpics immediately. They're pretty good. Thanks to my friend's ability to mess with Xbox.com's gamerpics, it's now possible for us to see if any gamerpics get released before they're on the marketplace. This has happened for a few games, actually, as they upload them to Xbox.com a few days before releasing them publicly.

Personally, I'm fond of 3, 4 and 8.

hahaha just what I did when I was small and played along to the Track and Field machine in the public swimming baths.

As for the rest: can anyone explain to me what those icons are good for? You don't honestly wanna tell me that people pay money for a couple of tiny pics...

You'd be surprised. You really can't complain though when you buy some shit and you're left with 230 pts.

Maybe they're avatars, and instead of letting you use whatever you want they milk you for a few more dollars?

Hmm, me too. You'd think preordering 6 months early would secure one!
