Montreal is really a wonderful city!
Been there twice, and planning on going back against next spring.

Are there any awesome arcades there? That kind of stuff is completely extinct where I'm from. :(

Not any with shmups. Mostly racers and lightgun games. A shame, but it's better than nothing.

There is a small chance my next project will be up in Montreal. My French doesn't exist, yet, but I wouldn't mind meeting up for some shmups and learning about the city.

Couldn't make the meet =/. Just got back from vacation, but I'll be around if anyone would like to organize something. I usually have some friends over once in a while to play some retro games, anyone is more than welcome to join in.

Going to check out foonzo today at noon to see what they have going on these days.

Kingbuzzo is certainly a fine host. He's always shown me a good time when I've gone to Montréal, even for my 36 hour visit!

When are you coming to London Buzzo?

When they build a bridge? I'll be in a better financial state once school is finished... or maybe worse.

I am in Montreal now and I checked out a neat little arcade on Sainte Catherine, near the Apple store. I think it was called Amusement 2000 Plus. There are no shmups, but Tekken6 and SFIV were hoppin. It is a nice little place for sure.

Edit:

That's the arcade where I met KingBuzzo a year back. they had Strikers 1999 then, and I got the benefits of having an insane local 'commentate' over my credit. One of my most memorable credits ever! I think he thought my middling standard was a WR standard run. That man was excited. Do they still have Initial D Stage 4 there?

I don't recall for sure, but I didn't notice Initial D. I never did make it back there so I didn't any up putting in any credits. Fun city for sure though, just wish I had a more reasonable schedule when there.

I did manage to take in the Canadiens / Canucks game last night though. Had sweet seats too, 2nd row center ice in the Club section. Any hockey that involves a coat check is topps in my book.

Doesn't every arena have coat check in the lower bowl?

Also, Foonzo is closed until the 13th, but they have Strikers 1945 3. I can always bring some games as well.

We don't in St. Louis for sure. I don't believe I've ever sat in Club though, as I never really appreciated the extras. Possibly they do there.

My season tickets were down low, and up high and neither there. The only other arena that I've been to for an NHL game was in California and it wouldn't be too useful there.

At any rate, I had another nice trip to Montreal. I might be back in Q1 2012. For others traveling, the Sofitel is highly recommended.
