stage 1: managed to get the thousand before the dogs (which i've been practicing and screwing up lately)...
stage 2: i think i got my first extra life on this stage... if not on the next stage...
stage 5: i think i got my second extra life on this stage... if not on the next stage...
stage 6: first time EVAH getting the 10k counter before the boss...
1 life all the way to the Ice Palace (with pressure!) and down hill from then will need to jot my scores down while playing in future...

I've only played the xbox's "360 mode" a few times as I'd read the slowdown wasn't as accurate as "arcade mode" - but I think it's the wrong way round. The Canyon is fast but the Ice Palace is more accurate - with Sakura anyhow. Here's the route with rank and score:

Train (3) 35mil
Graveyard (3) 120mil
Forest (3) 250mil
Volcano (3) 600mil
Canyon - 1.2bil
Ice Palace - 2.4bil

Canyon: use lock shot on the platforms as you decent in the second part of the level

Ice Palace: use lock shot on the blue Ivy and "jelly fish".

One thing though - you got to 5-1 EX AND did 'Ice Palace, Canyon'? Did you mean 5-2 EX?

I think you misunderstand the meaning of "5-1 EX." The 5-1 means he got to the first part of the final stage (the bit with the dancers is 5-2) and has nothing to do with the extra stages, which are labelled 4-1 and 4-2.

Oh no - I got that - I was just checking based on the score itself - though I appreciate that can fluctuate wildly in this game...

But... it says on the score photo

I'm being stupid. Ignore me. I realise I've caused the confusion. In my post asking for confirmation from TonK, which I wrote in a rush, I meant to ask if the score did indeed include both EX stages - not if it was meant to be 5-1 or 5-2. Now I understand your response and befuddlement ravid - and thanks for your vigilance too! Always good to know I'm backed up by the more astute.



At least the hi-score board is right!

EDIT: And now I look at the photo I notice the two floating 'EX indicators' - I'd never noticed them before in the pics. I guess there being two is one for each EX level - making this whole nonsensical tangent of mine even more ludicrous.

Rest assured I understand the game (even more now), and will be even more careful before asking daft questions...
