Well, looking at x.x Blog Room (which is currently being bombarded by pixel art by x.x), it seems that he keeps a progress map from time to time regarding Eden's Aegis.

Here's what I was able to get from it:

Code:
As of 2009/01/05

STAGE 1
Background: Finished
Foreground: Finished
Stage Enemies: Finished
Mid-Boss: Finished
Boss: Finished
Enemy Placement: Finished

STAGE 2
Background: Finished
Foreground: Finished
Stage Enemies: Finished
Mid-Boss: Finished
Boss: Finished
Enemy Placement: Finished

STAGE 3
Background: Finished
Foreground: Finished
Stage Enemies: Finished
Mid-Boss: Finished
Boss: Graphics and Attack Patterns
Enemy Placement: Finished

STAGE 4
Background: Finished
Foreground: 2nd Half
Stage Enemies: Large Flying Enemies (Placement and Adjustment)
Mid-Boss: Finished
Boss: Incomplete
Enemy Placement: Incomplete

STAGE 5
Background: Finished
Foreground: Remaking
Stage Enemies: Incomplete
Mid-Boss: Incomplete
Boss: Incomplete
Enemy Placement: Incomplete

SCHEDULE
*Undecided

BUGS, FLAWS, ETC.
*Replay bug, replays can still be saved even after pausing.

PARTS OF EXAMINATION
*Examination of Aegis Shot, button configurations, etc.

PARTS I AM CURRENTLY WORKING ON
*Stage 4 Background
*Large flying enemy graphics

This is, for the most part, what he has done with Eden's Aegis as of January 5th. His blog site is where he usually keeps all of his pixel art (and pixel fan-art) and progress on his video games.

(My prediction is that he'll release a new version of Eden's Aegis once he finishes the stage 3 boss graphics and patterns.)

Nice :)

I was already wondering if he's still working on it or not; looks like he made a fair bit of progress.
At this rate, if x.x really wants to release a 3-stage beta, we should expect it soon.

He has this thing running on his blog called the Eden Report where the characters (and related characters) of the Eden universe report on Eden Aegis' progress.

Some witch girl named Ume and her Tanuki reported on the progress in the latest volume (vol. 6). I have a feeling that Ume's going to be one of the bosses in Eden's Aegis, but who knows?

Also...

Unless he gets his butt off working on the other parts of the video game that aren't the Stage 3 boss, I don't think we'll be seeing anything for a while.

As a matter of fact, the state of Stage 3 at the moment is EXACTLY the same as the state of Stage 3 as of 2008/10/21.

Normally, in his finished x.x games, if you pause mid-game, you can't save your replay. I paused once in the middle of one of my BWR+ sessions, and when I was done, I couldn't save it.

I think the replay bug could be something else, like some desync issues or something.

x.x Blog Room (in Japanese)

Bombarded with pixel art and concept art every few days. Occasionally the Eden Report will pop up whenever he makes SOME progress with the game. I'm looking forward to Eden Report vol. 7 myself...but who knows when that'll pop up.

If ever does x.x put up a final version of Eden's Aegis, I shall host a tournament to commemorate his works! Blue Wish Resurrection, Eden's Edge, and, of course, Eden's Aegis.

Maybe I should also add in Green Wind and the original Blue Wish as well?

I'd join in! Of course, I'd fail something miserable but I'd definitely try my hand.

BUMPED this thread to inform you about this important news.

x.x Game Room says that he's going to be able to release version 0.5 of Eden's Aegis around June 14th. On this release, you're going to be able to play all 5 stages of Original Mode only.

Yes! Eden's Aegis is my favorite X.X shmup so far because of the kickass scoring system. I can't wait to be able to play all 5 levels!

Recent news regarding Eden's Aegis 0.50 on his blog, x.x Blog Room. Summarizing the info:

x.x wrote:
I still need to fix some balance issues and apply some bug fixes, as well as a little problem that still remains. Once I get all of this cleared out somehow, then I might release ver.0.50 to the public. Please...don't expect too much from this.

See you later.

He seldom posts updates regarding Eden's Aegis, but when he does, even if it's been over a year since the last version, it brings us hope that a new version will come soon.

I won't be surprised if the full version comes around in 2010. THEN I can host the x.x Game Room commemeration tournament! Maybe I can get x.x's permission if I can also integrate the players of his site BBS to participate as well. (Fun fact: He has his own maintained HS board for BWR+ with a picture of Nanathy saying "Please participate!")

Some nice pixel art on his blog. I like his renditions the ESPGaluda/Ra.De characters :)

Most of his recent works haven't been too pixel art lately. His drawings are pretty good as well, though.

On the topic of game development, bug checks, bug fixes, as well as confirmation of said fixes still need to be done as far as Eden's Aegis ver 0.50 (Trial version) is concerned. As soon as that's done, I've been thinking about releasing it. (My schedule's undecided*.) Afterwards, I will add more features that are [at the moment] incomplete, fix more bugs, regulate balance issues and the like, then I will announce the release date for Eden's Aegis ver. 1.00 (Complete version).

See you soon!!

*In other words, he has no set schedule.

Wow, those first two stages were exciting and well designed. Great bosses. Still think most of the enemies look like shite, though, which is totally forgivable, considering the game is done by one man. The one thing that bugged me was the god-awful music in level one. Really looking forward to version 1.0.

I hear he's going to pull off an ESP series and make character bosses. Looking at his blog, I think the 3rd boss is going to be character-based.

Also, version 0.50's going to come before version 1.00. IIRC, it will only have original mode completed.

Hi chaps 1st post as ive just recently got into the whole shmuping lark (thank god my gfx card fan fell off, making it so i can only play 2d games.) All the versions of Blue Wish are great, they're brilliant for a noob like me to pratice his gameplay.

I havnt tried out the Eden's Aegis but by the time ive finished with his other titles EA will be finished or atleast playable on default mode :)

X.X has given away some great games, hes games imo are up there with cave story and melty blood. Shame hes not as popular
