Who is going to take the first plunge on Soldner X?
I just want to know if anyone has bought this game and sacraficed himself to bring understanding to the forum.
Some of the best shmups don't actually end in a vowel.
No, this game is not Space Invaders.

Even after diving into the Broken Thunder adventure and coming out wrong (should have ordered the LE insteat of the regular - the game still is ok)
I still decided to "take the plunge" again and preordered it last week.
It looks stunning, has a great composer in charge of the Music, and I do not dislike euro-type shmups per se...
why not??? If you´ve got some money to burn that is...
And since I am selling of my Ibara for around that price... I could not go wrong...

Actually they said they decided to ignore the playtest results on purpose.NAVVARR wrote:Last hope seems to have mentally scarred a lot of people.- Seems that as soon as someone mentions a new shmup- they start comparing it to Last Hope...
Get over it! -it wasnt the worst shooter and probably won't be the last. -It was a valient attempt, let down by little or no playtesting.

Judging by the screenshots, this looks like it could be the worst commercially released shooter of the 21st century.

Thank God that games aren't merely judged by WIP screenshots, eh?zinger wrote: Judging by the screenshots, this looks like it could be the worst commercially released shooter of the 21st century.

Ummm, really? How come? You sure it's not the shrooms you just had? They look quite promising to me...zinger wrote:http://www.soldner-x.com/index.php?opti ... &Itemid=39

I don't really want to get involved in in-depth talks about this, but I can point out that I suddenly caught myself playing for about 2 hours non-stop instead of implementing the sfx changes I made over the last days. That'll get our chief programmer mad.
The state of the game today is already excellent. With a team of about 20 people all-in-all, the project has already exceeded expectations. The publisher is backing this fantastically and overall presentation (and I don't just mean graphics and music), details, gameplay tweaking, test, bonuses, speech, huge aural refinements are making me proud to be a part of this. Last but not least, you may not be aware of this, but I am probably the only member of the team without a longer number of games already under my belt, my enrollment mainly due to the great LH music response. So - there are experienced veterans on this. NDA's and my contract prohibts me from saying more.

Well, the graphics are no more exciting than WinXP's default desktop theme, sprites and background don't blend well at all. Also, western ~1999 scifi-style oldschool isn't cool. The ship designs are the most retarded I've ever seen, comparable to what I used to draw when I was nine.Necronom wrote:Ummm, really? How come? You sure it's not the shrooms you just had? Screens also hint of worst gameplay design ever, but I won't go further into that. You'll see.
