We're serious about supporting shmups, and the future of new shmups is at least partly in the growing indie game development scene.
This forum is a place to ask questions about shmup tools & development, share advice, discuss programming tips & tricks, make contact with artists or musicians for your next shmup project, or chat about anything relating to the process of making shmups.
This is also a place for indie developers to post significant Work In Progress betas of their development projects, and get rapid feedback from hardcore shmup players about their beta.
There are some rules for giving feedback about other people's work: Be respectful of other developers' time and effort. Treat others fairly and you will be treated fairly in return. Constructive criticism is why people post their projects for feedback. Abusive flaming is not, and will not be tolerated. Keep in mind not all shmup fans share the same tastes. There is room for much more than one kind of shmup in the world.
Also respect the main forum RULES
at all times.
Finally - Please keep threads on-topic. Random chatter will be moved to Off-Topic. The signal-to-noise ratio here should be kept good enough that developers don't have to waste their time wading through noise to find a relevant discussion. Also, topics relating to development tips for other kinds of games besides shmups are not encouraged. There are plenty of generic game development sites out there, the idea here is to focus on this specialist genre. So try to keep your discussions in context, and help each other out on the rocky road of shmup development.
