the cic on the blw in my nes is giving me fits. about every 5th time i turn on the console it refuses to boot the game because the stupid chip reset again.

whats the proper way to reset it? or how about just turning it off alltogether?

most of the people here aren't going to understand your acronyms, but yeah, I'd like to disable it too. Don't need it since all my games are clean

mine supposedly doesnt even do anything because pin 4 in the nes is cut. but it still resets itself and then the console wont boot until i hit reset a bunch of times.

Isn't it pretty much standard practice to cut the CIC chip on a NES? It doesn't serve any purpose other than preventing you from importing games.

The BLW has its own 10NES, so cutting the legs on the NES one won't do anything. One feature of the BLW cloned 10NES is to be region free, which you configure initially by power cycling the NES a few times. If it's not staying locked, there may be something wrong with it, contact Arcade Works technical support.

Just buy an everdrive and dont worry about it :) BTW- I don't mind the combo of this-- you can accidentally knock on the console and it won't freeze like with the regular 72 pin connector. But...this is kind of me justifying the price of the BLW (almost $40 shipped), because I can't get the everdrive out of the f'n thing....

I contacted them and they said I need to ship it back, and they'll send me the revision (..but at my shipping expense).... so, yeah I'll just keep it stuck in there. $30 plus tax and shipping-- close to $40 to play one game....(because I use an everdrive, it's fine for me, but maybe not for others--) So I wrote a "mediocre" review on their site due to this very stupid policy they have... and get this, if you don't post a 4 or 5 star review, it won't even show up on their website....(reviews go straight to the admin for approval) Give me a f'n break.....

I Figured out the problem with this on my own.

The contacts on my nes motherboard had some corrosion on them that was preventing the cic from working properly. I cleaned it all with contact cleaner and a brush, let it dry, re installed BLW, and the problem is solved.

Cool.
