CRT Emudriver 2.0 / dual cards for a MAME machine?

Post by kardus »

I'm a bit behind on these things, but I see that there's a newish version of CRT emudriver (2.0b) for newer cards: apparently HD 2000-7000 is supported on Windows 7.

Does anyone have experience using the card/driver on a system with another video card? Reason I ask is that instead of building a separate computer for a MAME build, I'm hoping to just stick one of these ATI cards in my current machine (for 15khz/rgb output) which already has a relatively new nvidia card in it that I use for newer games. Apparently in windows 7+ it is possible to have more than one type of card in use providing they both have different drivers.

And out of curiosity, does anyone know the best card supported by this that actually has the correct (vga/hd15) output? Is it the 5450 or is that just the most economical one? I've also heard that brand (sapphire, powercolor, xfx, asus, msi, etc...) makes a difference for these cards and flashing the new bios, which one is the best or recommended?

I've used it on a card along with my onboard graphics. Seems to work.

What was your setup like, did you have more than one monitor output at once? (i.e. game display on one screen using crt emudriver, desktop/whatever else on another monitor using your onboard card?)
