XRGB Mini Audio Out - PLEASE HELP!?
I was wondering if someone could help me? I'm using an XRGB Mini to EURO RGB SCART cables to my HD projector. I'm trying to get audio out while still using the HDMI for video. I have speakers that just require two RCA composite inputs. For Dreamcast I'm fine, because my TORO provides me with audio output. I tried plugging the cables into the front composite inputs on the Framemeister, then selecting output to "Analog" and "HDMI" in the menu settings on the XRGB Mini. Nothing. DVI output, nothing. How can I get audio out while using this awesome projector? When I used my XRGB mini on my HD TV I had audio from the built in speakers obviously. And I could run audio out through the back of the TV too, but with this projector I'm stumped. Please help me because the video quality is so great with this piece of equipment, I know there has to be a way.

The Mini does not have any dedicated audio outputs. If you need seperate audio, you can get a HDMI to DVI + SPDIF audio extractor. These are about $30-40.

You could also use a cheap SCART audio adapter like this one, which will let you pull the audio out of the SCART cable before it reaches the Framemeister.

Thank you guys very much! I see each adapter works differently. One going after the HDMI end and extracting audio, the other from the SCART. I'm all about quality, what's the best option for quality? I don't want to hurt the video going through too many HDMI's or SCARTs?

HDMI is digital, so there's never an issue of 'quality loss' in that regard. You can split the audio out of it without fear.Sora24 wrote:Thank you guys very much! Crap, I went ahead and bought the SCART audio extractor because I didn't feel like running another HDMI. I figured for clutter, the SCART was the way to go. I hope that it doesn't hurt the video quality. I can't thank you guys enough though, I was stumped.

Such a short run shouldn't hurt the quality. I could imagine though that some of these adapters don't properly pass RGB, but I guess you'll know soon enough.

Thank you. Yeah, sounds like I will find out soon, ha. If so, I'll just get the HDMI extractor, not like $40 is a big setback. I knew getting into RGB was going to get expensive. But it's worth it for the dozen consoles. Can't thank you guys enough. I will report back my quality when I receive the SCART extractor.

If he bought the exact SCART adapter that I linked to, then it does pass RGB, because it's intended to be used with the RGB SCART to Component/YUV converters, which don't have audio outputs.Fudoh wrote:Such a short run shouldn't hurt the quality. If he's using speakers that have analog RCA inputs as stated in the OP, then I'd say he's better off just pulling the system's audio directly from the SCART cable, rather than having the analog audio feed into the XRGB-mini which will digitize it and then once it comes out of HDMI then splitting it off and converting it back to analog again.FBX wrote:HDMI is digital, so there's never an issue of 'quality loss' in that regard. As for the video I doubt going through that adapter will affect it much.

Re: XRGB Mini Audio Out - PLEASE HELP!?
I have this SCART adapter in question (mine looks identical anyway) and unlike with some passive SCART splitters in the past, I'm unable to notice any loss in video quality here. It looks to me that the in/out switch is mislabeled though as it seems to need to be set to "in" to get a signal out of the RCA audio outputs, but maybe I'm misunderstanding something here.

Thank you guys! Love hearing that the quality will be retained using this extractor. Yes, I did buy that exact one, darcagn. Special thanks for breaking everything down too. I totally understand and agree with your opinion.

I would say that you bought the right solution. Audio fed through the XRGB-mini and output digitally sounds a bit more flat and tame than the real deal

Re: XRGB Mini Audio Out - PLEASE HELP!?
I can now confirm this adapter was EXACTLY what I needed. No loss in quality what so ever. I highly recommend this to someone who is using an HD Projector and an XRGB Mini, like myself. Thanks again guys!
