My conclusion is that the MX8000 does NOT support the scanlines feature as the previous MX models does. Why Im not sure? The instructions is pretty clear I think but no matter how I tried, it didnt work. Will go the 240p route with a pc AMD / groovymame setup that can provide this resolution instead.

Hi! Just found out how to access service with the image from the console in the background!

Some swedish guy has a great tutorial:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=27OTKcojeRc

You just change socks AV2 to "Decoder" and in tuning turn "Decoder" on. :D

Calibrating on MX models never been easier! :)

Guys, sorry to resurrect!

Had a look through this thread but It doesn't seem to be 100% confirmed, can you play gun games with the contrast screen on?

Specifically HOTD2 DC or VC Saturn?

Anyone tried? :|

I tried gun games on a B&O MX4xxx or MX8xxxx (not sure which) series television and it certainly did not work optimally. It only registered hits once out of a dozen shot or so, even if I put the gun right up to the screen.

Never did try it with the contrast screen removed.

Pretty sure it worked just fine on my mX7000, but I'll test later tonight or tomorrow.

Hey everyone!
I bought MX7000 last week. It came with Beolink 1000 and cost 50€ which I think was a pretty good deal. TV has software version 4.3 and I can access service menu with the remote. Now, is there a right way to adjust the screen? I mean, should I first adjust the width and height to fill the screen and then start tweaking other options?

And was it so that composite and RGB use the same service mode values?

Short vid of me using a light gun (Model 2 jap Saturn) with the contrast screen on, no apparent issues.

There is only one service menu, but if my memory of this thread is correct, for some software revisions, adjusting color might or might not work for RGB.

No worries, got curious myself! I knew the light gun had worked, but I did have the contrast screen off for the longest time.

Now I wonder why the lightgun I tried did not work with that B&O. It was a NAMCO Guncon with a PS2 Time Crisis game.

That was not my gun or my screen though. Some time in the future I'll get me a Guncon II to test lightgun action on my various B&O screens.

The Namco Guncon 1 and 2 work on my MX7000 with proper blacklevels with the following settings.

With contrast screen:
Brightness 3 (in servicemenu)
Brilliance 32
Colour 32
Contrast 62

Without contrast screen:
Brightness 3
Brilliance 24
Colour 32
Contrast 50

The 7000 is an earlier era model. It could be that the later era B&O sets, which all of my sets fall into, started to implement fancy deflicker techniques, or other some such digital picture tamperings that mess with lightgun compatibility.

Hi everyone. I'm picking up a MX7000 this weekend very excited. Couple of questions
1) I will be using a snes rgb scart and a gamecube rgb scart. Will I need to change the name
Of the inputs to play them?
2) the picture the guy I'm buying this off says 50 hertz. I was under the impression that all of these sets were 50 and 60 hertz is that not the case?
Thank you in advance to who ever respondes to this for me :)
Adam

Unfortunately it's bad news for me....! :(

HOTD2 on dreamcast does not work with the MX4000

Went straight into game first and not one hit registered on screen!

Then through gun calibration, top left was recognised immediately but bottom right refused to register however I held the gun and at any range!!

Oh well, just for reference, my contrast screen is plastic, some of the 4000's came with glass, don't know if that would make any difference?

Thanks for all the advice guys anyway..

My MX7000 is SW4.5. That's not the latest build which is SW4.7 but it was built probably in 2002 or 2003.

You sure it's not the gun that's not working or perhaps the TV is set too dim???

1: If I'm not mistaken, unless the right pins in the scart plug are connected, you will need to map the inputs.
2: They say 50hz, but they handle 60hz no problem :)

No gun is fine, will try adjusting brightness tonight but I doubt that will matter.

Just one thought, would it make any difference im using a japan gun and game version on a pal dc over scart would it? :?

Nope, the gun syncs to the output of the console. That is why it has to be connected to the video out.

Actually, I just assume that is how it works on the Saturn as well since I've never seen a lightgun for that system.

Turn up contrast to 62 and brightness down to 32 and see how that works. Should also fix your fix levels which should abysmal right now. If possible you can even turn contrast down to 56.

Hey people

Could some please answer this for me. Will de interlacing the image on my MX7000 with my gamecube make the picture look better or should I just leave it as normal. Any thoughts?

Thank you

Normal, or you'll lose half the vertical resolution of 480i games.

Oh ok, why is it that everyone says de interlacing option is such a nice feature to have if you don't use it on 480i content?

For 240p games that are displayed as 480i it is nice since it restores the 240p look, that is pretty much it.

So my snes games output at 240 I don't need to do anything with that just plug in and play?

Yes, you can't de-interlace non-interlaced signals.
