I've gotten an Aquos recently. I read somewhere that it's low-res (interlaced mode) was really good for low-res signals. Those people apparently didn't play any 2D video games.

It's mounted on my wall, and easily tate-able (just flip it!) but the interlaced mode leaves a bit to be desired... in fact, it's better on some games than others (weird). For my high res shooters (especially on the DC w/ VGA) it's unbelievable! For those handful of 2D shooters, it sucks.

I figure I might wind up hunting down a chea 21" TV one day when I move into a house w/ a garage, but until then just wondering if what I was originally wanting was a mirage.

Perhaps your best bet would be making up (or buying) some japanese RGB cables for the consoles required and picking up an xrgb2, if you get best results via vga. The price, compared to an Aquos, will be quite small.

Probably easy to just pick some up... the only downside is that I have a nice box for all my the S-Video inputs that all my consoles have. Guess I could get another one for Component cables.

Hantarex makes a flat screen 29" rgb monitor and a 40" 4:3 rgb plasma monitor...the plasma displays at a max 640x480...and the picture is simply stunning.
