I don't mean to derail your thread, but we really need to have a "stay away from Retro Console Accessories" thread with all the shoddy work we've seen from them over the years. That cable posted before is just unacceptable - even if you get an "as designed" sample there are still some glaring flaws as RGB32E pointed out.

I would say return it and buy from somebody else, like eBay's "retro console accessories" (I don't mean to be a shill here - I'd recommend others if I knew of any).
Thanks for the info. The new cable is from retro console accessories, the previous from retrogamingcables.

For the previous cable, retrogamingcables is sending me a replacement. I'll see how that fares.

Here's the "retro console accessories" cable:

EDIT: I want to ask - is it possible to receive two cables from different manufacturers that just don't work? I'm really thinking it's something I'm doing wrong.

Sure it's possible - though working through the problem often reveals problems.

By any chance do you have a different SNES available?

My thoughts on the new cable: Possibility of shorts reduced, larger caps probably a step up (I think these are the rather infamous ChongX brand, so perhaps the operating temperature range + size are misleading), there appear to be more grounds (though not sure here) and not having the wires in a knot at the end is good too.

I'm being told a sync processor may be required for a XM29 Plus - even if the cables used are correct. I ordered one and will report back with my findings. Thanks to member STG.

Yep, that jives with what I've heard from a member who has one.

So I got the SC 201 sync processor. Still nothing! Genesis is fine still. I even testes with another SNES. I've double-checked dip settings on monitor and processor.

Hey guys, for an update, even with the csync cable and processor, in the end I still needed an lm1881! This is an lm1881 with power.

Someone in a Facebook group offered to sell it to me. Not in production anymore.

Looks like the seller makes a different one now, that doesn't have bnc connectors so you have to use a vga to bnc adapter cable:

its not cheap though

I know it's late to say this but for some reason I forgot my own thread.. But getting the NTSC cable did the trick! However, I wanna know if any of you have tried switching from the JP to Euroscart adapter and vice versa.. And if it's safe doing this. Because I want to try the official SFC scart cable on the Framemeister

LOL

Radio shack project box with really poorly cut holes. That's awful. Who knows what kind of clusterfuck of wires is inside that thing.

Also I said scart to BNC not VGA.

Like I said, its the same guy making this one as the one you were asking about. He switched to this design instead and stuck it in box. I would assume the boards look similar inside to what he was selling before, but just switched to VGA only (needing an adapter for BNC now) and got rid of the BNC ports. I do agree he could do a better job cutting the holes out or should use a different box.

Kind of sucks he stopped selling the older design as it was cheaper. Maybe not enough demand for it. I dont really see the point in either of these devices as you can just use a bnc to scart cable though.
