For 240p output you can use

Emotia
Emotia Plus
Super Emotia
Super Emotia GX

The Super Emotia II will only output in 480i.

thanks for the replies,

What then super Emotia II would not serve me? I have my console rgb scart cable connected on a crt televion, what would be the best model Emotia here to play with the best possible image quality games 15 khz, my console is PAL although I can put it in NTSC and even if I want to connect to a 720p lcd tv, how should I connect the xbox to Extron Emotia and crt tv to be the best possible picture quality? thank you very much

Get a Super Emotia or Super Emotia GX. The original Emotia is limited to 640x480 input, the Super can accept up to 1024x768 and several resolutions in between. Its more versatile. If you are certain you will be OK only feeding it 640x480, then a normal Emotia will work.

Ive had both, and they both worked perfectly, but the Super was just more versatile because you have more choice in the resolution you sent to it.

As Fudoh said, the II's dont have the 240p conversion/output capability. Stay away from them for your application.

the Super can accept up to 1024x768
but it's not this much of a use, since you'll never be able to find a proper 1:1 output line mapping. 480p to 240p is a straight conversion, which you can use on any emulator that you can set to proper linedoubling. 768p to 240p is usually a blurry mess no matter how you configure your emulator.

Depends-- it also takes 800x600. I sometimes ran into issues with the original Emotia where vertical scrolling was not perfectly scaled when displaying 240p . When that happened I either had to use the overscan switch or apply some interpolation in the emulator to get it to scroll perfectly. Using 800x600 or 1024x768 with slight interpolation sometimes yielded better results than straight 480p with no interpolation. You can get a sharper interpolated image at the higher resolutions.

Not always, mind you, sometimes (depending on the emulator) , I could get perfect scrolling with 640x480 with no interpolation-- when I couldnt, a higher res with a slight bilinear filter fixed the uneven scrolling.

In any case, if the two are the same cost, wouldnt you take the more versatile box? I know I would.

Below are a few pictures of ZSNES, MAME, and NEO RAGEX on one of my old 15KHz sets via the Super Emotia box.

sure. They just have become quite rare, so you usually don't have much a choice. Just get what you can....

Yeah, I actually had to make a power supply out of a PC power supply using that crazy ass power plug that I was able to rob from some other electronics. The Emotias I bought came without them!

I sold both of them, I wish I had kept them both.

Thanks for the answers, and photos, a picture is worth a thousand words, gives a very good picture quality, it is difficult to get these devices at a good price, see if I can get one. Then it is a matter of configuring

copados33 wrote:@josh128 You have to configure your emulator properly, you need to set it at 448 lines to get 1:1 conversion, or at 480 with only 448 being used to draw the image, since final Fight runs at 224 vertical lines , otherwise you end up with some segments of the screen looking blurry, like in the 2nd Final Fight photo:
Im well aware that all MAME games display their native res upon bootup, and I always tried to set the emulator res to even multiples. It wasnt that straightforward of a problem though. ZSNES for example, would scale perfectly at times, say, at 640x480, then when I turned the system off and came back a day or two later, it was no longer scaled perfectly, despite still being set at 640x480. I even tried to go back and reset the resolution back even though it was already set, and many times it still would not work. Some strange anomalies. I did get some MAME games to work properly, such as GNG and Final Fight, but I recall fiddling with resolutions till I was blue in the face trying to get them right.

The two devices do entirely different things, so it really depends what you are trying to do.

The Framemeister wont output 15KHz 320x240 AFAIK. It can give a nice 15KHz "look" on a 1080p set through its emulated scanlines.

If you want true 15KHz output to a 15KHz monitor, you'll either need one of the above mentioned Extron boxes and a TV or monitor that can accept S-Video or RGBs, or an Arcade VGA card and a monitor that can accept 15KHz RGBHV resolutions.

Hi, I tried searching photos as Emotia Extron is connected to a classic xbox connected to a 4/3 tube crt tv with scart rgb input means there are two possibilities, one is component cable and the other by x2vga neoya, but I do not find the pictures, you could help or have photos of the connection process using the two forms? the neoya is a bit harder to find.thanks
