It seems like every X360 shmup gets at least a few posts in its thread in shmups chat devoted to the game's achievements, so here's an English guide to the actual requirements for achievement-whoring the games. I'm going to rely on some community participation on this one, as I only own a few 360 games at the moment.

SPOILERS may appear in the form of secret achievements.

  Finish the game with Exelica after defeating Faintear in both Level 1 and 3, and without continuing before you reach the last boss

• Hard Mode 1CC (20)
  Playing on hard difficulty, finish the game in 1 credit. Default settings aren't required, so if you're struggling with the random bullet speeds, have fun doing it with 5 lives, 5 bombs, and extends every 25m points
• Perfect Play (25)
  On at least Normal difficulty, finish the game without dying, and have enough medals in each stage to encounter every form of every boss, including both Faintear encounters

  Clear Stages 1 through 5 in 1Player Game mode, any difficulty, continuing OK
• Final Stage (20)
  Defeat the TLB Omega Rugal at the end of the 2nd loop
  Loop requirements are:
  1. Clear the first 5 stages without using any continues
  2. Find and collect all 5 of the hidden invitations
     Shoot the tiny KOF character in each stage to reveal an envelope (Ryo running across the highway in St.1, Geese falling from the building at the end of St.2, etc.)
• Turning the Tables! (20)
  Defeat the EX Boss that challenges you after completing Stage 3 on any difficulty
  Appearance requirements might be:
  1. Clear the first 3 stages without using any continues
  2. Finish off at least one boss using a Level 3 super art or a bomb
• The Temptation of the Gold Medal (20)
  The achievement description is misleading, you have to collect 50 gold medals during a single stage without collecting any lesser medals. Gold medals only appear when destroying an enemy at point blank range, or from slightly further away while enemies are provoked by taunting. It will unlock immediately upon satisfying the conditions on any difficulty
  The easiest way to do this is to choose Athena, use her Level 3 super art, and then charge into a group of popcorn enemies while you're invincible (don't shoot!) and repeat as necessary
• 300 Combos (10)
  Get a combo of at least 300 kills. It would actually be difficult to not do when using Kula in Stages 4 or 5. Don't die though, or your chain will be dropped
• Don't Use the Bomb!! (20)
  Clear Stages 1~5 without using any bombs. Any difficulty, continuing is OK
• Crimson World (10)
  Use your taunt 30+ times in a single play. Just jam on the button as soon as the game starts and it will unlock before you've even reached the end of the first stage

Guwange

12 Achievements, 4 in the form of Secret Achievements, harness the power of your shikigami for full-game coin chaining

• Shishin's Technique (10)
  Clear the game using Shishin.
• Kosame's Technique (10)
  Clear the game using Kosame.
• Gensuke's Technique (10)
  Clear the game using Gensuke.
• The Great Statue (5)
  In Stage 3, use your shikigami to destroy the Great Statue before destroying any of the other statues. See here for the location.
• Money Grubber (10)
  Connected a 10,000 coin combo!
• Cash Fiend (20)
  Connect a 30,000 coin combo!
• Grind for the Gold! (15)
  Score 25,000,000 points!
• Pocket Change (15)
  Collect 1000 coins during a boss battle.

SECRET ACHIEVEMENTS

• With love from Guwange-sama (10)
  Suffer a noble defeat by Guwange-sama.
  In other words, get a Game Over or Continue screen while fighting the giant baby at the end of Stage 6
• The Subjugation of Guwange-sama! (20)
  Defeated Guwange-sama without taking damage.
  This means not taking a single hit during the fight with the giant baby. You can bomb through his patterns for this one, but if you kill him or cause him to change forms with a bomb, the achievement won't unlock
• To New Heights... (25)
  Scored 50,000,000 points.
  All of the coin chaining and score achievements will come pretty easily in the X360 Arrange Mode, just keep using your shikigami attack on enemies to slow down bullets and cancel them into coins
• True Diabolical Power! (50)
  Destroyed Amagisu's final form without taking damage or bombing.
  During the last form of the final boss, avoid getting hit by the pattern that shoots bullet-emitting fireballs in an outward spiral

  Eliminate the UFO in Stage 0
• HIGH SCORE OF 10,000,000 (10)
  Acquire a high score of 10,000,000
  See the strategy for 1,500 CHAINED below, as performing such a long chain should easily push your score over
• 1,500 CHAINED (10)
  Achieve a chain of 1,500
  Using the field weapon in either 2-5 or 5-2 should make this pretty do-able
• 1,000 NAGOYA ATTACKS (10)
  Perform 1,000 Nagoya Attacks in a single stage
  Once the ability is unlocked, passing over a just-fired (still grey) bullet counts as a Nagoya Attack. So just chill under the big UFO in area 2-3 as he fires his spreads for an easy 1,000+
• MUSIC FAN (10)
  Play Music Mode 10 times
• EASY DIFFICULTY CLEAR (10)
• NORMAL DIFFICULTY CLEAR (15)
• HARD DIFFICULTY CLEAR (20)

  Just get the combo counter up to 21, this should unlock very early
• Goliath Killer (10)
  Defeated the first Boss Invader
• Lieutenant Rank A (10)
  Achieved Rank A at the end of a level
  (Earning an S Rank won't count for this!)
• Lone Wolf Victory (15)
  Complete the game in Arcade Mode, using retries is ok
• Hot Streak (15)
  Triggered at least 4 rounds of Fever Time in a single stage
  Shoot 4 invaders of 1 color in a row, then 4 more of a different color. A flashing UFO will fly across the screen, shooting it will enter a special round, clearing the special round will enter Fever Time
• Hero of Nagoya (25)
  Achieved 1 ROW using the Nagoya Attack technique
  Wait for a row of invaders to reach the very bottom of the screen, then point blank them all while the Nagoya Attack message is on screen
• Space Commander Rank S (25)
  Achieved Rank S 3 times
  This doesn't have to be during a single run, and can be done in Stage Select
• Take That! (30)
  Defeat a Boss Invader without missing a shot
• First Taste of Victory (10)
  Won an online match for the first time
• Space Invader Veteran (20)
  Won 25 online matches in VS Mode
• Team Victory (20)
  Completed the game in Co-op Arcade mode

Galaga

12 Achievements, it's like Dodonpachi but with more bees and less chaining

• Scorpion (15)
  Find the Scorpion during battle! Shows up in Level 5. An enemy will split into 3 scorpions
• Stingray (25)
  Find the Stingray during battle! Shows up in Level 8. An enemy will split into 3 stingrays
• Galboss (30)
  Find the Galboss during battle! Shows up in Level 12, an enemy will split into 3 tiny Galbosses
• Dragonfly (10)
  Find the Dragonfly during battle! Shows up in Level 11, which is a challenge stage
• Mosquito (20)
  Find the Mosquito during battle! Shows up in Level 19, which is another challenge stage
• Blue Spaceship (30)
  Find the Blue Spaceship during battle! Shows up in Level 31, yet another challenge stage
• Stage 10 (5)
• Stage 20 (10)
• Stage 30 (30)
  Play up to the respective stage to unlock the achievement. You don't have to finish it.
  The above achievements might have been difficult if the game didn't include a level select. You can always choose to start at the last level you reached before dying
• Dual Fighter (5)
  Form a Dual Fighter! From Level 2 on, every so often the enemies on the top row will swoop down and try to tractor beam your ship. Let one grab it, then when it comes around for another pass, destroy the enemy to get your ship back and attach it to your new ship
• Enemy Fighter (5)
  Shoot down a red captured Fighter! The same as the Dual Fighter achievement, except this time you cap your old ship instead of the enemy
• Perfect Bonus (15)
  Shoot down all enemies in a Challenging Stage! Get a Dual Fighter and pay attention to where the enemy formations enter. Stage 3 and Stage 7 are ideal candidates

Xevious

12 Achievements, mostly dealing with bombing invisible junk

• 40,000 Points (15)
• 100,000 Points (30)
  Score the required number of points. You get an extra lives at 20k points and every 60k points after that. Stay alive, shoot and bomb everything you can, and reveal/destroy Sol Citadels for points
• Andor Genesis (10)
  Destroy Andor Genesis! The big mothership that appears at the end of Stage 4 and every so often afterwards. Plant a bomb in the center to destroy it. Remember to lead your shots
• Blaster Master 100 (5)
• Blaster Master 500 (10)
  Destroy 100 and 500 air-based enemies, respectively! This has to be done in one game. You can actually checkpoint milk areas with lots of flying enemies or the snowstorm sections if you're just after the achievement. Otherwise, you should get it somewhere around/after the 2nd Andor Genesis if you've been shooting vigilantly
• Bomber 30 (5)
• Bomber 100 (15)
  Destroy 30 and 100 ground-based enemies, respectively! This also has to be done in one game. Bomb radars, tanks, the flashing red ports on Andor Genesis, etc. You'll probably have this around or before reaching Blaster Master 500
• Special Flag (25)
  Reveal a Special Flag! Bombing certain places reveals Special Flags that are worth an extra life. See the webpage below for a walkthrough with screenshots
• Sol Citadel Revealer (10)
  Reveal a Sol Citadel! Bomb when your cursor turns red to make a Sol Citadel pop up
• Sol Citadel Destroyer (15)
  Destroy a Sol Citadel! Put another bomb on top of that Sol Citadel you just revealed to destroy it
• Sol Citadel Diviner (25)
  Reveal 3 Sol Citadels! Has to be done in one game. You can either checkpoint milk early in the game, or just make it to Area 9 where 4 Sol Citadels sit in close proximity near the start of the stage
• Sol Citadel Diviner Master (35)
  Reveal 5 Sol Citadels! Use the level select to start in Area 9 and checkpoint milk the group of 4 Sol Citadels, or use the guide on the website below to legitimately find them as you go (helpful for the 100,000 point achievement)

Aegis Wing

12 Achievements, you could probably do them all with enough controllers but maybe you should just find people online to co-op with.

• Rookie (5)
• Veteran (10)
• Ace (20)
  Get 30,000, 100,000 and 185,000 points.
  The last one's a bitch in co-op, but if you don't mind the tedium you can just milk powerups and mines at the 4th boss in single player
• Exterminator (15)
  Kill everything in a level. This includes the 0 point enemies that appear in levels with a boss, but not the red mines that only the laser can destroy
• Untouchable (15)
  Finish a level without getting hit once
• Immortal (15)
  For whatever reason, this doesn't work in single player. Finish a level without you or any other players losing a life. Enjoy the poor design decisions that led to this game having a lifebar as your cohorts fail at dodging
• Diplomat (15)
  Finish a level without firing your regular shot. In single player, this can only be done in Level 2, as bosses never time out. It can also be done by attaching to another ship and using only special weapons for a whole level
• Halfway Point (5)
  Finish Level 3. I believe in you
• Epic Warrior (10)
  Get 4 people together and have everyone attach their ships
• Teamwork (15)
  Attach to another ship and earn 10,000 points by destroying stuff with your turret/special weapons
• Hero (25)
  Finish the last level on Normal. It's a long, slow, boring road if you can't just jump into a co-op game on the last mission. On the plus side, the game refills your lives every stage
• Legend (50)
  Finish the last level on Insane. You get one life, and if all players die then you start back at the beginning of one of the longest, boringest levels of one of the slowest, boringest shooters ever

Omega Five

12 Achievements, thanks for reminding me that this game exists

• Cleared Stage 1 (10)
• Cleared Stage 2 (10)
• Cleared Stage 3 (10)
• Cleared Stage 4 (10)
  Complete the respective stage in Single Player Arcade Mode. Learn the stages and bosses and you'll succeed. By the way, continues are allowed
• Ruby Master (25)
• Sensei Master (25)
• Tempest Master (25)
• "R.A.D." Master (25)
  1CC Single Player Arcade Mode with each character. Completing the game with Ruby unlocks R.A.D., and finishing with Tempest will unlock Sensei
• 30 Second Max. Bonus (15)
  Maintain the max. bonus for 30 seconds or more. Keep hitting enemies to build your multiplier to 10x, and don't get hit or it'll drop back to the base 1x. Easily done on the near-continuous stream of popcorn enemies in the last section of the first level
• Don't Let Me Go (15)
  Hold onto an enemy for 10 seconds or longer with the anchor using Ruby. Just anchor the head of the robo-yeti when he appears near the beginning the first stage. The midbosses of Stage 3 are also good for this
• Untouchable (15)
  Repel 20 or more enemy bullets using Tempest. This has to be done in one shot. Try sitting between a couple of the yellow-domed robots in Stage 1. Let all of their bullets enter Tempest's energy field and turn green, then stop firing to repel the bullets
• Incredible Restraint (15)
  Go 30 seconds without swinging Sensei's sword. Pacifism achievement-- just lay off the right stick and dodge for 30 seconds

1942 Joint Strike

12 Achievements, 200 points, like every other XBLA game

• Lightning Rod (6)
• Mosquito Wing (7)
• Shinden Striker (7)
  Complete the game with the Lightning, Mosquito, and Shinden, respectively. Try Penguin difficulty if you're having trouble reaching the end
• Wingman (15)
  Complete 3 levels of the game while playing Co-Op. Even if the other player dies off early, you'll still get the achievement after you beat Poseidon
• Concerted Combat (10)
  Destroy 30 enemies using a Joint Strike. Not cumulative, so let a bunch of popcorn enter the screen and then use a fully charged Clash Blast to wipe them all out. Remember: you can only Joint Strike in co-op mode
• Sharpshooter (10)
  Get a 90% or better accuracy rating. This is a shootdown percentage, so just destroy as many enemies as possible in a stage
• Blitz (10)
  Complete the game on the Wing King difficulty setting. Sounds hard until you realize that the only difference between difficulty levels is the number of starting lives
• Fangs Out (10)
• Padlocked (25)
  Defeat all of the bosses with an A rating or higher (S rating for Padlocked) in one play-through. Ranking is based on the amount of time taken to destroy the boss. The first boss is easily the hardest to S-Rank. Make sure your weapon is powered up and try to have a full stock of missiles going into the fight

• Tiger (30)
  Collect 30 medals. Practically guaranteed within the first few stages
• Shooter (30)
• Combat Ace (40)
  Complete the game with over 200,000 and 2,000,000 points, respectively. I'm pretty sure it's not possible to finish the game and have less than 200k points. If you're going for the all A-Rank or S-Rank achievements, you'll easily have over 2m by the end of the game

Let's tack another post on here just for the heck of it, for all I know some of these future games will require a full-length ST just to explain how to unlock the most ridiculous achievements.

I can list what I've unlocked in Shooting Love 200X (most of the achievements are secret). The game has 50 achievements, all of which are 20 gp each.

Exzeal:
Finish the game with ship type 1 (continue ok)

Trizeal:

It's actually hidden within a large metalic fist that appears during the second lap of the stage.

You have to bounce the Lifting rock 4 times in order for it to reach max value (10,000 pts), which unlocks the achievement.


Also, it would seem that surviving to Level 100 in most of the Shmups Skills Challenge stages unlocks an achievement.

There's an achievement for collecting all of one colour in the Get Red/Green/Blue orbs game.

Another achievement if for knocking 100 cans of soda into the trashcan.

Also, I was wrong about triggering the Tokyo Tower in Stage 3 of Trizeal being an achievement. It's triggering the Gamera-wannabe (a large flying spinning turtle) that shows up toward the end of the stage. I have no idea what the criteria is for triggering this though (I've only done it twice).

Are you sure about these two? I made both and nothing happened.

I was wrong about the stage 4 red UFO... it's just complete the Breakout Section.

As for the Bakayaro Achievement, there's actually a multitude of ways to get it. Apparently, in nearly all of the Shmups Skills Tests, doing something immensely braindead will net you this achievement.

As far as I know, just don't continue. As I recall, I got these achievements at the same time as the 1-coin ones.

I think there's more to it that that unfortunately. I've got the one coin achievement for RF2 along with the one coin plus final boss for RFJ achievements. I did both runs without continues.

In order to select 3e, simply highlight ship type 3 and wait for the countdown to hit 13. Press Shot. The ship has a really slow rate of fire unless it's point-blanking a target, but its multiplier does max at 11.

Just a couple of corrections for the XBLA titles:
In Triggerheart Exelica, for both the True Ending achievements you need to defeat Faintear on level 1 and 3, in addition to 1cc-ing the game. (As a side note, I'm not even sure you need to 1cc, I think you just need to get to Faintear on the last level without continuing.)

And the Dot Eater requirement in Ikaruga has the additional requirement of not continuing on the chapter.

As for the other shmups on XBLA, the achievements are pretty straight-forward in their descriptions (and entirely in English) so the only reason to add them is for completion's sake.

Cool, thanks! Edited the descriptions for those achievements. I've only ever seen the Normal endings in Exelica from screwing with the extend settings, so...

Exzeal : you unlock an achievement in stage 3 if you manage to shoot the blue block through the first part of the stage. (Besides, you're awarded 100K)
You can do it with the second blue block through the second part, but there's no achievement for that one, only the 100K.

The robot in stage six of Exzeal is triggered by pressing Start when you're next to him (yes, you have to pause and unpause the game).

BGM Love: in the options, set the music to volume 1 and the sound effects to volume 0. Enter any game and it should unlock.

Get Tridyne (the stage 6 mid-boss) to give you a bomb. When Tridyne gets up and starts to move, just start pausing and unpausing like mad (there's a 25 frame window where you're supposed to press start, it's as he extends his hand). He'll hand over a bomb and then slide to the left before starting his pattern.

-0 Master
Get to the point in level 5 where the music changes and the enemy sequences begin to repeat infinitely.


Now, there's one left that hasn't been mentioned here. I know it's called Rare Game (something to do with a quiz) and is part of Shmups Skills Test. I have no idea how to unlock it though.

Yeah.. I'm just missing the Rare Game one. I assume the game will eventually throw it at me if I just keep selecting the standard single-player Shmups Skills Test.

Yes. Both games seem to unlock additional credits for each hour spent playing the respective title.

I'd go as far to say that Exzeal's Stage 6, in general, features a really massive spike in difficulty.
