HI all I am seeking a few FM towns games.
Not sure if these titles are compatible with FM towns 1?

Bubble bobble
Indiana Jones
Turbo Outrun
Afterburner
Super shooting towns

Not sure what other games would be good?

I already own Tatsujin-oh

Thanks,

Hah, you and I are in the same boat. I have an FM Towns II CX20 (with a 486 swap) and my only game is Tatsujin.

Puh, i think you can go for;

All STGs (not Mahou)
Rainbow Island
Bubble Bobble
New Zealand Story
Turbo Outrun
Taito Chase H.Q.
Indy 3 & Loom (cheapest LA titles around 100€)
Prince of Persia 1&2 (may run a bit slow but full playable)
Shadow of the Beast 1&2
Lemmings (if you want)
Marble Madness
Operation Wolf
etc...

robivy64 has performed a nice & insane CPU mod with these FM Towns Systems... SPEED BOOST POWER UP ! ^__^

I have an FM Towns Marty II myself. I have Splatterhouse and Image Fight.

Tatsujin-Oh...Pretty expensive game when found complete. I'm kinda pissed I didn't grab it from
Yahoo Auctions Japan when i had the chance. It wasn't 100% complete(Missing Box) but for $40 can't really pass that up. But I did manage to get my Splatterhouse and Image Fight, both missing the Large box for $60 together.

If you like Shumps...then you would probably like Image Fight. I'm pretty sure the FM Towns version is 100% arcade perfect except for some slowdown. I know Splatterhouse is.

FM Towns 1 PC or Marty?

There are huge differences between the two.

The Marty is limited on what it can play, while the PCs can play it all.

Here is my machine:

Lucky you, all I've got is Viewpoint, Galaxy Force 2, Blandia, and some sampler CD. I've played Twin Cobra and it is horrible.

In my experience, none of the ports (excluding Viewpoint and maybe Splatterhouse - both horizontal orientation titles - Viewpoint seems merely equivalent with the original) holds a candle to the real thing (unless you're just looking for soundtracks; the remixes on GF2 are definitely worth something, but the port is not).

Does it have a tate mode?

I don't believe it does.

I never seen anything in the options mode for "arcade" or anything similar.
If you played any of the other Ving releases I believe it has all the same video options all their
releases do(Low res, high res, etc)

Here's a video anyways.

How does that bumping scroll not drive you insane? (To be fair, I have Image Fight on the X68000 instead...sheesh...)

yea without TATE or a scaled screen its impossible to play as you will get shot by enemies off the screen.

I dunno It didn't really bother me. It's better to be able to see everything without having
to scroll.

i was playing in High res mode which cuts some of the bottom and top off the screen, when playing in low res it's all the way to the edge of the screen, which would mean less scrolling.

It was sealed until a few days ago since I got it. I'd take it over Rayxanber anyday.

The Console version of Tatsujin OH is great. I'm surprised though that there is some slowdown
on big explosions. Does this happen on the actual Marty PC? I would think not given the fact the PC can
have a lot more ram.

I didn't find the slowdown too bad.

Sometimes it's a blessing!

Most FM Towns STGs go in "fast mode" on a FM Towns computer. (with enough power)
This mode eliminates all slowdowns, lags etc...

A) Get a Capcom CPS Fighting Stick adapter (works with all Mega Drive OR SNES Pads)
B) Build a converter http://www.gamesx.com/controldata/fmtownsjoy.htm
C) Have a nice week end ^__^
