Things have changed. Tried to send some flyers out via USPS First Class. $1.61. No problem -- adding certification is now over 3 fucking dollars. It's included on loads of other shit, but to get a large envelope certified I basically have to spend $5. Stupid. Any way around that? I remember when they used to tack it on for $0.50.

Shipping increases are a significant detriment to video game collecting, especially overseas - USPS prices have tripled (or more?) in some cases.

I've thought to start a thread about shipping prices and techniques, but there really doesn't seem to be any secret cheap methods.
Shipping a basic game overseas with USPS costs around $22 to most European countries. Stupidly I've had a few overseas potential buyers ask me for free shipping, and then get rude when I quote the actual charges.

Yeah, it's fucking brutal. Tracking is included in first class, EXCEPT for fucking large envelope. I'm thinking adding airpacking to make the package over 3/4" will raise the price from $1.65 to $2.75 or so but comes w/ tracking. Otherwise it's close to $5 registering it. Still spoiled from the Japanese system.

Have you thought of sending it in a medium/large sealed bubble/padded envelope? Or is that what you are talking about? They usually offer those at the post, or you can buy them at any Target. They're about $1.50ish, but should count as a package to be mailed, which would bring the shipping w/ tracking to about $3.00 - 3.30.

I think I can get the same effect w/ cheaper envelopes and air packing that's lying all over the fucking place at my house. :D
