I just love seeing big corporations FAIL big time . They seem to be on a fail streak lately.

I was thinking of criticizing this thread, but I have to admit that this is pretty fail from the getgo.

But in the end it's not like touchscreen matters

That's 4 different instances of the thing not working. Shame on them if they can't get a screen that works after the first embarrassment.

New and largely useless technology not working well on new and largely useless hardware, I guess that sucks.
Let me keep my mouse for at home and leave touchscreens for tightly controlled public terminals, and put a mouse at those to, it's just faster/easier.

Agreed. The bigger the company and more overpaid the product is the better.

Microsoft takes a special place in my heart though...

Apple isn't a saint either though, and I predict it falling far in the not too distant future.
Arrogance does this, and Apple has it in a bad way.

Touchscreens for extended use = ergonomic fail.

Apple is full of fail, they're pretty secretive about it though. They have a nice track record of stealing peoples work (not unique to them at all, but for a company that's considered "artist friendly" they're pretty bad about it), and not addressing or even recognizing that there's serious issues with their products.
In fact I was at a Apple Store today to get my laptop looked at, and the guy at the genius bar literally stopped talking to me when I brought up that the dvd I need to have replaced is well known to be of poor quality. Their latest issue is a bug in Snow Leopard that can erase all your data, it's been known for awhile now but there's still no fix for it.

"Good news, bad news, or NO NEWS?!"

I'm thinking I should just stick with the Win7 Ultimate I got some time ago for my i7 machine...DX11 what, also, don't need to pay 2x the price of Vista Ultimate, that's just crazy talk. Win 7's pricing is the real fail here. People are mainly just sighing in relief that it's not a massive piece of crap, lol

ahem

Windows 7 is neat. They just need to fix the inability to switch to fixed-aspect ratio with games, because playing doujin games, visual novels, that sort of thing in full screen isn't so good. I had to hook up my CRT, but that normally sits beside my LCD anyway.

I'm also having a lot of fun with the snipping tool.

I think it's cool that people paid Microsoft for Vista so they could fund a working OS that everyone would also have to pay for.

I've never like the idea of a touch screen on anything. Human skin produces oil which = smudges. Seriously who wants a screen full of smudges? However I will probably be getting windows 7 if need be. Touch screen control is really a trivial thing since most people will be using the mouse anyways. It is just an extra feature that some idiots who cannot fathom mouse use will adopt to be "different".

In this case, it's probably more for "tablet" PCs, which typically use a stylus. Some of the professors at my college use them in conjunction with a projector as something akin to a persistent whiteboard with unlimited space, and/or to mark up the course notes during the lectures.

maybe if your point wasn't made laughable by hyperbole I would have addressed it instead of giving you a smartass response

then again I probably would have just thought to myself that if you were going to make a one line attack on vista you should have made it at an appropriate time and place (such as in a vista thread about three years ago when doing so wasn't old hat)

I'm not smart enough to think multitouch is useless.
