Hi ! Thanks a lot for sharing this. Even though it might be an emulation issue; this may deserve some attention. When you talk about the "Last red ship before the boss"; are you talking about the ship which drops the bomb ? (see: at 11:45 in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mPWyYMoG0dY).
SInce your hit counter did not become crazy; there must have been "one hit" which gives a huge score; or a bug in the maximum bonus calculation. Do you remember which enemies you killed with the bomb and when exactly you used it ? Was it more at 11:43 ? 11:45 ?
Did you catch the bomb (from the red ship) IMMEDIATLY after bombing ?

Also; do you remember if your score was still increasing AFTER the last stage4 enemy (during the 3-4 seconds where we wait for the stage 4 boss, 12:03 to 12:07 in the video) ? In that case the bug would be a maximum bonus bug; and not a bug with the hits.

If you prefer to chat in another language; that is possible in French; Spanish and probably German :)

btw the counterstop score that was posted was due to playing with extends every 10m points or something
the game has no limits on lives so if you get like 550m on that setting you get another 500m from life bonus and counterstop

this is likely just a glitch that isn't related to the current WR in any way

I had been wondering about that, thanks for figuring it out. Still wonder about the 100m improvement on the record revealed earlier this year, though - that's got to be some sort of glitch/exploit.

The glitch posted here is more likely than not an emulator fluke. Getting the maximum bonus under the circumstances described is normal behavior, but the rate of increase obviously isn't. Maybe the maximum bonus multiplier got set to a bad value through an underflow or something.

Got rid of the VERSION field. I'm just gonna ignore the PS and Saturn versions like with Guwange's 360 version, if that's okay with everyone else.

I switched to the Japanese version (used to run on the International version before).
The run should have been a 400 millions, but bad play in 2-4, 2-5, 2-6.
Next time maybe !
