3 lives, 3 bombs, do not turn on "Slow Mode". Slowdown rate must not be more than 5%. Replays are required for new first place scores. Version 1.00d is highly recommended, and you can update to that version by doing the following:

Quote:
- First you must patch to 1.00a, which can be found here.
- Then you get the 1.00a to 1.00d patch, found here.
- Alternatively, you should use the 1.00b to 1.00d patch if you somehow have that version of the game, found here.
- After you patch up to 1.00d, you may also get the English translation patch. This patch requires 1.00d to install, and does not modify gameplay. Note that the patch is kinda broken and requires an English locale while playing, or text will be cut off. (Just use the Japanese version!)

This thread splits the Final stages. I would prefer not to have scores that do not reach one of the Finals, as having a board specifically for scores that don't complete the game in some way is ridiculous. I'm sorry for the inconvenience, but I feel this must be done, and it's something I wanted to do a long time ago.

Post in this format:
Code:
DIFFICULTY - CHARACTER - ROUTE
NAME - SCORE - STAGE - SLOW RATE PERCENTAGE [- VERSION - REPLAY]

If you uploaded your replay to gensokyo.org, please link to the replay description page, not the actual file.

It is currently assumed that most scores were made with v1.00d and the English patch at the least. Please note everything; English patch, lagless mod, tate mod, etc.

Scores labeled C? are being treated as Final Bs, because that seems a bit more reasonable than treating them as As. If anyone with a C? still exists and is somehow reading this, please tell me what you did if you remember.

Shion's scores are unusual. Many of them rate near or above 5% slowdown, yet the slowdown doesn't seem to show up in game. For the time being, I just have the sub-5% scores.

Whoa. Okay. I think that's everything. And I have to do that two more times, though they won't be as bad.

I'm considering dropping the slowdown rate requirement to something like 2%... yay or nay? 5% seems a bit much, though even 2% could be considered a bit much. Bah, unstandardized hardware.

so i finally split the boards by finals. i know people are gonna complain about this, and i'm really sorry, but i really do think it's best for the thread. final a is worth taking seriously; no longer will it be some silly grind on the way to final b. funny thing is, this may actually encourage submiting survival play.

yes, this has something to do royalflare also spliting by finals... but remember that i'm the kind of guy who would like to have a board for every single possible route in darius games.

Probably not the most impressive run, but I finally figured out where these replays were after about a month of serious searching since I had no idea where the game was saving them. I don't remember what I did in this run since I did it in July.

As I said in the replay comment, I meant to wait for 4b points before posting, but whatever this is close enough, so I'll probably spend the next long while in spell/stage practice modes just learning new strats and stuff.

Stage 1 is always a mess because I find it very hard to focus on that stage when I've played it so many times! My spell history on wriggle's midboss spell is literally 999/999. Anyways, so please don't bully my missed cancels. If you're trying to learn cancels from my replay as like an intermediate-scoring one, find me on IRC and I'll point out where I messed each one up, if you want. Anyways, the big mystery on this stage for me is still firefly phenomenon, i.e. boss wriggle's first spell. I'm told by vcz that I gotta tap faster to keep the bullets coming out in the unfocused mode, but whenever I tap too fast my meter goes over to the human side. Anwyays, that wasn't the issue this time; I just got pushed too far to the left by the green bullets and wasn't grazing anything. For comparison, I like to have about 7500-8000 time when I exit that spell, although in truth I very rarely hit that goal. The only other major score thing in that stage that I think I'm not thinking about at all is the cancel on wriggle's midboss spell, which is sort of medium important.

Stage 2 is also always a mess, but that's also partially because I haven't routed the entire stage yet. I don't really have a route for the section right before the second big fairy cancel (the one that's supposed to give you 2k time), and I also get very scared of bullets in the part right after that because the fairies are somewhat randomly spawned and so I can't just memo a route to cancel them all at the right time. So, I just kill them all early. yolooooo. For comparison, my goal entering Mystia is around 13000 time, but I hit this pretty rarely. Usually I'll continue any run that's over 10000. On mystia, her second spell (venomous moth's dark dance) is usually an autobomb for me, although I was a bit late this time and ended up with a horrendous deathbomb. Alas. The next non is literally impossible, but I got lucky this time I guess. I'm not sure what I was doing on her last mandatory spell; I think I just sort of spaced out. Anyways, that one I'm normally supposed to cap. It's quite easy, especially the non-scoring way I do it. There's a supergraze, which I'm told is pretty straightforward, but I haven't learned it yet.

I think stage 3 is where I made enough points to make this run worth continuing. I don't pay attention to the cancels on the fairites that shoot bit circles of bullets and curvy lines of familiars, which costs me about 800 time per fairy, but otherwise the stage portion wasn't awful. Also, any run where I cap both first pyramid (keine's midboss spell) is a GREAT run. That spell is worth a lot of points! I guesss the other thing worth mentioning is that I always do eph137 (boss keine's first spell) no-focus, because I find it easier (it destroys some of the familiars, which greatly thins out the bullets). That's not a scoring strat. I think the proper way to score it is just a speedkill, but I can't dodge it at ALL focused. Speaking of scoring strats, also I do midboss keine's nonspell wrong: pretty sure you're supposed to do that unfocused, but again, I just can't dodge it at all that way, so I do the speedkill for safety. Also, wow I completely forgot that I failed 3 treasures (penultimate mandatory spell) right at the beginning. That spell is worth a LOOOOOOT of points. Highly recommended that you be more careful than me, kudasai.

So stage 4 is another stage that I haven't actually routed all the way through, i.e. I've only done the first half of it, but yolo that's like most of the stage. One cancel that's always been mysterious to me is the very first one (the first time I shoot unfocused), because the timing is SUPER tight to get those familiars to cancel the red bullets from that other fairy in the top left. Or, maybe I'm still just conceptualizing it wrong. Anyways I have a lot of problems with it, and I missed quite a bit of time on this run. I actually don't remember how much I'm suppposed to get from it, that's how infrequently I do it correctly. Well, whatever, not a huge deal, sort of a small optimization. As long as I cancel some red bullets, it's fine for survival, which is most important at this point. The big big scary on this stage is the series of 3 PoCs during that part right before midboss marisa, where there are those 6 big fairies that come down from the left and right sides. Wow, that's super scary! If I have a bomb, I usually just unfocused bomb after the first pair, but I didn't this time and had to do hard strats. I got pretty lucky this time. As for marisa, ASSteroid belt is an autobomb for me (midboss first spell), as is the nonspell right after it (which I think I saved a bomb for but then didn't use in time, opps). I'm gonna have to work on me shmup fundies before those get any easier I think. Alas. Anyways, in the second half of the stage, that bomb is a planned bomb to collect point items. Idk, there's not much to say about Marisa's boss spells, they're all pretty easy especially when you just use survival strats like I do. I guess one commentary is like, holy shite that first spell is so easy but somehow I STILL messed it up???????? Probably one of the top 5 easiest spells iin the game, idk how I messed up that restream. Whatever. Also, the last spell was a very tragic death, because that's another super easy spell.

So, I didn't fully route stages 2 or 4, but I haven't spent any time routing stage 5 at all, so basically except for the bunny hugging in the first half, everything is just my LNB survival route. So, I guess that just means it's super tragic whenever I get hit, which happens I think at least once in the second half. Also, tewi a shit. a GRAT one. I dunno, on her first non, I just can't read those crosses at all, so I'm forced to bomb every wave. I usually plan to use 2 bombs on that pattern alone. It's the only pattern I plan multiple bombs for. ;_; At least reisen was pretty nice. Her last spell is so short, yet I capture it so infrequently! It's quite scary. Every run, my heart rate goes up quite a bit during that spell I think.

I never EVER enter stage 6 with 7 lives, that's just wacky. I think earlier today, I had a couple runs that entered stage 6 with like, 2 or 3 lives, which is far more typical. It's usually around this point that I realize that my palms are sweatin up a storm, my back is drenched with sweat, my middle finger on my left hand is tired of holding down the shot key, and all sort of physical ailments like that. Which is unfortunate, because I'm super bad at the stage portion of stage 6, which is worth like 99% of your final score. Fortunately, I got good RNG this time with the positiions of the fairy spawns, so I only messed up the last wave. And even that was a well-controlled mistake, since I didn't PoC anything in youkai mode, I think.

Of course, as is wont to happen in any half-decent run, I got kags'd SUPER hard. Normally, I expect to at least capture her 3rd and 4th spells as well as the nonspell in between those, but I messed up LSI (4th spell) at the last second, which just sucks! Very stupid death!! If I hadn't been kags'd several times per day for the past couple months, I probably would have cried. Sometimes I can also get a lucky cap on her first spell, but of course that didn't happen this run. The real kicker, though was the grand failure on hourai jewel. Pure slapstick, straight out of nichijou or something. Like, I'm a tough guy, I've got thick skin, I've been looking at gore on 4chan since I was 12 years old, but rewatching this hourai jewel now gives me cringies like I've never felt before. Especially knowing that I ended up being a measly 8 million points off of my target score ;_____; Like, that last death, on that single outlier bullet, REALLY should not have happened, and would have given me 30 million extra points or something. Just tragic. Worst thing I've seen in my entire life. Someone once told me, for any visual you see, there's something more fucked up out there on the internet, but let me tell you, the amount of content on the internet is finite and therefore there must be some maximally fucked up visual out there, and this hourai jewel is that max. Rawr. Anyways, after personally giving me a vasectomy with her teeth, brutally murdering all of my immediate and distant relatives right before my eyes, and rubbing a magnet over my hard drive, Kags finally decided to NEET it up and let me cap some of her last spells, so yay.

Anyways, so like, bretty gud run, but plenty of room for improvement. Hopefully we'll be seeing some 5b soon????????????

Small update, probably not really worth posting but 3.99b is just too tantalizing to leave alone. No time to post a comprehensive reflection, but in summary, the odd numbered stages go decently well, and the even numbered stages go pretty crappily, but oh well.

Pardon the pun, but I blew stages 4 and 6 with panic bombs galore. I don't ever do that. Might because I'm trying to score at midnight.

So nice to have someone finally get runs up for the 6a route (I think I saw one score for final a, but its for the most part empty)? I kind of wanted to play IN earlier today, but I wasn't really in the mood to go up against Kaguya. Also been a while since I last fought Eirin. That 6b is sort of old at this point. I had that sitting on Restart Syndrome for quite a while but forgot to post it thinking I could do better later. Also, some of these scores happen to be my highest scores for the teams on normal (excluding the ghosts). I mainly use Youmu and Yuyuko together so I was kind of surprised how low my (possibly) 6b runs with the other shot-types were from about a year ago.

My 6a runs are pretty rough. Its mostly because I haven't really played IN in a while and I rely on Yuyuko's spread too much.

Edit: Did an easy run

Easy - Youmu & Yuyuko - 6b
Prinny - 2,027,759,760 - C - 0.036% - 1.00d - Replay

More edits:

Easy - Youmu - 6b
Prinny - 2,110,186,840 - C - 0.000% - 1.00d - Replay

More edits. Hard this time.

Hard - Youmu & Yuyuko - 6a

Hard - Youmu & Yuyuko - 6b
Prinny - 2,514,535,610 - C - 0.043% - 1.00d - Replay

I'm kind of glad the 6a and 6b scores are separated.

An update to my lunatic score. I probably should just edit the previous post (which has some scores I added in).

Lunatic - Youmu & Yuyuko - 6b
Prinny - 2,867,385,120 - C - 0.041% - 1.00d - Replay - Video

A run with some mistakes in it. Its been a while since I've touched lunatic in IN, but I managed to boost my score in lunatic quite a bit. 3 billion might be a nice goal to go after later, but I think I need to learn Kaguya's last spells if I want to do that.

Stages 5 and 6 were the bane of my existence this run. Failed all but one of the Impossible Requests, too.

Normal - Reimu & Yukari - 6b
Cats - 1,785,220,070 - C - 0.000% - 1.00d - Replay

P.S. I put it on YouTube, also.
P.P.S. I'll give final A a run since that list really does need a boost.

Hey Despatche and everyone, what's up? ^^ I got my 1st Lunatic mode 1cc of Imperishable Night, as of last night! Yeah, I was working at this for a week, slightly more than that, and I got it, so it was cool! :) I used the Scarlet Team for that particular 1cc of mines.

Lunatic - Remilia & Sakuya (Mugen no Kouma) - 6b
PurpleTheGuy - 1,751,896,700 - C - 0.271% - 1.00d - Replay - Video

Yeah, this run had a lot of glaring mistakes in it (Stage 5 was quite unfortunate, since I usually don't mess up in stage 5). I'm surprised this run cleared, actually, lol. At any rate, I got what I wanted here, for now. This is another one that I'll have to return to to improve on, when I get all of the Touhou STG games (PC-98 & Windows) 1cc'ed on lunatic mode at least once.

Well, at any rate, that's the 6th Touhou game I've beaten on Lunatic mode! :)

As promised, a 6A normal run. Didn't quite match Prinny's score, but that's a challenge I'll just have to embrace!

I think with something like this, I probably should try to improve my Nether Team score. Been a while since I faced Kaguya on normal and I'm not used to using Border team. More coming from me soon since I'll try to work with the other teams and potentially try to do a decent Youmu solo.

Normal - Reimu & Yukari - 6b
Prinny - 1,966,878,290 - C - 0.039% - 1.00d - Replay

I should probably attempt to learn how to properly deal with Kaguya since I tend to just rely on bombs on her. Also nice to see some activity on the 6a section.

Some stuff I got over the weekend. Just some Scarlet scoring attempts and an improvement to my Nether team normal score. Wasn't too successful getting anything else.

Normal - Sakuya & Remilia - 6b
Prinny - 2,036,198,830 - C - 0.042% - 1.00d - Replay

Normal - Youmu & Yuyuko - 6b
Prinny - 2,266,659,950 - C - 0.079% - 1.00d - Replay

Hard - Sakuya & Remilia - 6b
Prinny - 2,466,664,040 - C - 0.000% - 1.00d - Replay

You seemed to have missed Cats normal 1.92 billion run with Reimu & Yukari.

yorgje - 4,510,745,910 - C - 0.000% - 1.00d - Replay

Slowly improving! Still making lots of mistakes, but that means lots of room for improvement right.

Highlights and lowlights:
heartbreaking last second deaths on vmdd and eph137
missed all the cancels on the second half of stage 3
got kicked by eirin
thought I had a bomb on the first half of stage 4 but instead I died
capped hourai jewel
capped fourth last
slick dodge on mystia's last non (when I have bombs there I actually just always bomb that non nowadays)

Honestly, overall it felt like a pretty mediocre run topped off by a typical kags, and I have no idea how this PB'd when I've had runs that were basically full spell up to kags sore way less. But whatevs, I'll take it!
