Thanks to Super Laydock for running the previous hi-score thread.

Strategy thread
Official website

a manic doujin shooter for the WonderSwan by M-KAI. Ports of Judgement Silversword and Cardinal Sins are included in Eschatos for the Xbox 360.

Accepting scores from all versions and ports with the -Rebirth Edition- subtitle unless someone finds significant differences.

Play on a single credit and have all gameplay settings on defaults. Sprite limit off on 360 port is allowed.

Post scores in this format:
Code:
MODE - (SECRET SHIP)
NAME - SCORE - AREA/ALL(Lx?)

Autofire is allowed.

If you post an ALL score, put in lives remaining if you remember them. The end bonus per life stock remaining is 2 million on Normal, 5 on Hard and 10 on Special.

Here's one I really need to get back to. I did say I wanted to clear Hard and Special with the default ship.

I may as well post my Secret Ships(and Special) scores now that there's an option for it in the thread. All of these are of course on the 360 leaderboard.

Do not remember how many extra lives for any of these.

Easy- Secret Ship
Enigma- 10,744,970- All

Normal- Secret Ship
Enigma- 107,402,640- All

Hard- Secret Ship
Enigma- 106,734,250- All

Special- Secret Ship
Enigma- 142,979,340- All

Special- Normal Ship
Enigma- 90,068,060- 9

I also should try to improve my Normal scores, but I would prefer to work on hard and Special Mode first. I probably will suck so much once I actually try the game again.

Nice scores! what are the unlock requirements for the secret ship? guessing it's no-miss the game on normal or clear special mode? I added the lives left for clears since 2mil end bonus per life is a lot, so scores would be more easily comparable.

Normal
Zaarock - 20,001,630 - 29

no-miss no shield up to area 23(stupid death, that wave isn't too hard), deaths everywhere afterwards.

Hard
Zaarock - 22,511,510 - 20

Special Mode, you need to clear Normal. You can use continues, modified settings, or God Mode to unlock it. It doesn't matter if you get the clear through area 31(1cc or continue there) or area 30(credit feed). In fact, IIRC, I think I had my first secret ship Hard All before my first default ship Normal All.

To unlock the Secret Ship you need to clear Special Mode. You can use God Mode to unlock the ship though and that's how most people have unlocked it since there's only 2 default ship clears on the leaderboard. But there's a lot more clears for secret ship than that on the leaderboard, though shown as Area 10 instead of All for Special due to a glitch.

I'd love to see a No Miss replay, but I don't think anyone has actually managed that with the default ship. the final Mitsurugi's Final Judgment I've never seen anyone dodge with the default ship while with the secret ship it dies before that attack can even happen. And there's so much that can go wrong anyway. And I'd really love to see how you dodge the final attacks you get with the secret ship because it's a different pattern than the default one.

Secret ship can score more cause the shield button does a different attack instead of using a shield, so you can speedkill on any difficulty mode faster and get more extends. As for Normal/Hard, this does not count as using the shield, so you can use it to repel the bullets if you're having trouble, and you still get the No Miss No Shield bonus.

Thanks for the info, strange I couldn't find the unlock requirements anywhere.

Normal
Zaarock - 25,428,290 - 31

no miss no shield to 23 again. 6 deaths on divine flow and got destroyed by expression of course. Hope I unlock special mode or stage select soon so I can practice some of the bosses easier.

edit:

Normal
Zaarock - 30,282,870 - 31

no miss no shield to 26. Learned to 1-miss divine expression by credit feeding but mitsurugi is still kicking my ass :? just need to get a proper run together and I'll 1cc at least.

Normal
Zaarock - 48,964,330 - ALL(Lx2)

no autofire.

Got a decent run together I guess. The TLB is pretty cool. Noticed that with a slightly better mashing technique I was killing things a bit faster, fingers hurt now though lol.

edit: "goldsword" is fun. going to work on 1ccing hard with secret ship.

Guess I may as well update with the last scores I achieved, but I definitely need to get back into this. I said I'd clear Normal mode back in 2011 and then I just quit! Unacceptable

Easy
chum - 8,728,970 - ALL

Normal
chum - 18,371,820 - 29

I'm sure you can clear this easily now chum. Since you get a ton of extends in this game you can clear with a lot of mistakes.

Hard - Secret Ship
Zaarock - 110,859,330 - ALL(Lx4)

Divine Flow and JSS went pretty bad, and had deaths early on which meant bad multipliers. Might improve, secret ship is fun to play on hard and this wasn't good play.

Special mode next.. bring it on, E3 :?

Normal - Default Ship
colour_thief - 45,636,740 - ALL! (Lx1)
No autofire.

My first clear!!!

Also thank you Zaarock for making a new thread for this great game.

EDIT:
Did it again! Let's make that:

Normal - Default Ship
colour_thief - 59,902,500 - ALL! (Lx1)
No autofire.

That's right, still just 1 life bonus. :(

EDIT 2:
...and again!

Normal - Default Ship
colour_thief - 65,567,400 - ALL! (Lx6)
No autofire.

Geez, you've been working on reliably clearing the TLB all weekend, haven't you? Impressive stuff, you gotta aim for #1! :p

You're making me worried that I might need to play Normal again soon.

Lx 6 is more than I ever finished with. I know I could do a lot better than that though, it's just so easy to screw stuff up. According to my post in the old thread, my run had 4 spare lives, so that 71 million score was an Lx4.

You'll play it again and you'll like it!

I was surprised I scored so low with Lx6... The places I did die particularly crippled my score.

What scoring strategy are you going for by the way? I'm trying to get the no miss no shield bonus. My best so far is taking it to the double mirror shields.

Also have you ever dodged the impossible(?) TLB homing bubble attack?

I can't dodge it. If I could, a No Miss would theoretically possible for me. I'm just too inconsistent to play that well though so I've never even gotten close. The secret ship can kill it early in the attack or before it even gets to use it, but then the final pattern is different for that ship and would still kill me.

I did a No Shield 1cc attempt once that failed and it ended at the homing bubble attack.

If I played well, I could keep the No Miss No Shield up to area 28, but the farthest I've done it so far is to 23. Area 28 is tough though, but 29 isn't too bad though usually would kill me.

Well, that's it for today. Will continue trying more though, but I prefer to leave a PB as a final run of a game for a day.

Normal- Default Ship
Enigma- 73,904,210- All (Lx6)

No Miss No Shield to Area 25. This area is a complete pain to me along with 17 and 19. Only got to Area 26 once so far with NMNS. Of course, I get NMNS Area 26, 27, and 28 now that it doesn't really matter. Then I die trying to No Shield Area 29 to keep what multiplier I had from 26-28. Use some shields to avoid dying to other things in 29 since my multiplier was already screwed.

2 dumb deaths on Divine Flow. This fight would suck if I actually carried a no miss no shield that far as one or two of the attacks can potentially wall you, and if you use the shield or die, you lose the high multiplier. The final phase decided to try to BS me by moving very close causing it to be very hard to dodge, but I managed to dodge it anyway. So a total of 4 misses up to Area 31.

No Miss No Shield area 31 up to the homing bubble attack where I then proceed to fail horribly, so 1 miss for the stage up to the final attack. Then finished with high enough multiplier on the final pattern and lives to get this score.

Easy- Normal Ship
Enigma- 10,801,970 - All(Lx14)

Decided to improve my Easy score. No Miss clear. The top score on the 360 leaderboard for Default Ship Easy is 10,921,360. I do want to beat that, but I'm just not sure where I'm losing points.

Sucky part about this is that now anytime I want to try to improve on this difficulty for this ship, it's an instant reset if I die once.

Normal- Default Ship
Enigma- 80,504,690 - All (Lx8)

As usual on the 360 leaderboard. Kept the No Miss No Shield to Area 26 on this run. I had an even more promising run earlier make it to Area 27 without miss/shield but then I quickly botched everything, ended with Lx3 58 million.

80 million was my target for when I was still using the shield a lot, but obviously since the strategy change made that not worth it, I know I can go a lot higher than that.

Though I wish I could get Hard and Special done with this ship. I just can't seem to stop screwing up everywhere past Area 20 on Hard and for Special, I still suck at the few bosses before E3 and E3.

Nice scores!

For Easy, are you milking the bosses that spawn missiles? That might be the only difference. The bosses have short timers so you don't have to milk for long.

Outside of Magnificence (pretty sure it's 3 cycles before the timeout, which I try to kill it right before) I don't think it's worth doing any milking on Easy. For Easy, I try to use the Shield a lot since I'm not sure if you get more points from hitting with the shield or not, but sometimes it just doesn't work out. Obviously try to absorb a lot of bullets on Easy if it doesn't cost too much time.

Does this score include you just going all out with the shield during the last few second of JSS before the finishing blow?
It could be a potential score skyrocket (and worth the suicide) if you haven't yet.

Also Hard and Special is pretty tough, so best of luck to you with that! It took me a really long time to nail down Special.

Of course I do the suicide for the finisher on JSS. That Normal run got a x31 which I think is actually perfect for it. For Hard, I've seen around x70 trying to get better at the fight in Practice, but that has more bullets to get multiplier off. The only time you probably would not want to do it is if you no miss no shielded until the final attack, and good luck with the bubble attack if you're going for that. i only hope to get to at least final Mitsurugi with the no miss no shield someday, not actual beat it with the bonus.

My original 70+ million was using shield for multiplier throughout the game. the other and this one was going for the no miss no shield bonus.

Oh wow, 31x? Do you do more than just shield-ram it? The most I can ever get out of JSS is 21x at most and even then, that's pretty satisfactory for me.
I'd assume attempting no-miss no-shield beyond Area 26 is going to be really hard if not impossible just because of Area 27 alone.

Also, new score wheeee.
SECRET SHIP - Normal

I usually just do the shield ram, but on that run I thought I was going to run out of the postdeath invulnerability, so I backed off and finished it off with with shots. I think the best I had seen before that was a x27.

And Area 27 No Miss No Shield is much easier than Area 26 which is why I was so sad when I actually got past 26 and screwed up 27, on the part where the enemy where the enemy comes in and shoots aimed balls at you that I should not have died to. Past 27, I need to get a little more consistent at one of the parts of 28 and I guess get lucky on Divine Flow's first phase and not screw up the others.

The problem I'm seeing with Divine Flow's first phase is how you have to after the lasers go to around the top left, then stream down then right. You're then on the right side of the screen for the next attack greatly limiting where you can dodge the random attack which can wall.

Have you tried ram+straight shot+tapped wide shot at the end? Maybe I just need to do some more controlled comparisons but I think it's better than ram+shield.

Also there is at least 1 other boss that spawns missiles you could milk, the mid-sized blue enemy that doesn't really feel like a boss but they give it the boss music. I think it's the first boss music, but I don't remember the area offhand.

I haven't been playing this in favor of trying to figure out Pink Sweets, but considering I can never no miss the snake sections of stage 4 no matter what I try, it just seems hopeless.

So I might be playing this again soon and go for 100+ million Normal. I don't see any reason why the max multiplier for this ship would be any different from the secret ship's, so hopefully I can cash in on some x100 phase kills which would be enough for 100 million.

I know we're pretty much capable of similar scores since neither of us can do the homing bubble attack.
