first neon light illusion isn't so bad, i just bomb once (too afraid to no-miss it even if it seems feasible) and usually can kill it... second somehow gets me every time though. and yeah FUCK titanic lance, i feel like that will be as far as i get

First time seeing Titanic Lance. I had a NMNB until something like zone H, where I'm still not sure what hit me but I lost five bombs. Also ran into a bit of scenery I didn't think was solid in zone L. I can NMNB Neon Light Illusion 2 now, though! (Hide underneath his first form until it stops shooting lasers, then point blank the 2nd as long as you can and it'll die before it's got too many lasers flying around).

I feel like Lance is pretty milkable; those snails (?) he shoots out are worth a lot and there's an easy safe spot during that section. If it weren't for the giant laser shooting me in the face, I'd know what N looks like.

I'd like to be able to capture the 3rd Captain type. I think I know how I can do it, but I just can't seem to keep from damaging the body. 4th type... I have no idea how to make that happen.

First death was on the second Prickly Angler, which is embarrassing. Held it together until the last section of Titanic Lance, where I took two hits for no reason.

When does the game start handing out extends again? I'm only halfway through the alphabet and I'm seeing my limit on the horizon.

Gaiden extends are in every third stage and every sixth stage. You'll have to get to P to find more, and you'll very likely lose that first one to Crusty Hammer.

Speaking of Darius Gaiden's real last boss, it was originally designed as a zone A boss called Twilight Rascal. Taito apparently felt that this was too similar to Metal Black (the previous "Darius III"), so Rascal was replaced and upgraded for later use. I guess having Hammer as the zone A boss in Extra is supposed to be cute.

Still a few silly mistakes. This should have been a P and 10 million+.

The main things I need to focus on are
- Electric Fan, of all things. It seems like once you blow off a leg he gets a ton of health, so I end up having to dodge through at least two of his droplet attacks (which always means hits). This run I scraped the ground and lost my shield, so I bombed twice. :|
- Neon Light Illusion 1, I still bomb twice against this guy. I can't do either of his forms at all.
- Titanic Lance. I just need to be more generous with my bombs - I seem to think I should save them all for the last phase, but the reality is that if I get there without losing a life I can probably take down his brain without needing more than one, if any. Once my shot level goes down though, it's a different story.

In an ideal run, I think I could make it to P with at least two lives in stock. Probably not going to give up on this until I get that run. I don't think I'll be able to go all the way; there's not a single final zone boss I think I'm capable of taking on at the end of an hour long run.

I'd also like to break 10 million on 1P. That's an easier one to go after, because it's a pretty short game when you're only playing a quarter of the stages.

If stage P is where you start getting extra lives again, that makes a lot of sense. Just gotta get to Fatty Glutton with enough resources.

I'm still working on this, been having loads of unlucky runs...
One time No-miss to Zone M, 5 lives but no bombs, i thought this is it... bloody squid took 3 of my lives...
Tonight no-miss Zone M after watching SM a couple nights ago, got to the Zone O boss first time, died with 9.3mil...
Been testing out rank control, not maxing out the shot power, not a good result... :evil:

No miss. I missed the bomb in L, and threw out one in Q where the three captains pop up - the third has taken far too many lives and I just wanted to get past it.. I also used at least one (maybe two) more bombs than was technically necessary at the end of V as those things that pop apart and the rush of popcorns at the end do have some chance of killing me. Two more bombs against Odious Trident and the clear was mine.

I could see myself hitting 12 million. Don't really care to shoot for it, but 1P is a nice change of pace when I'm doing terribly at 2P.
