Amazing score! But I can't get the input file working. Will you be uploading the run to YouTube?

Thanks! I still have some time to play and I sorta still want to break 12M so we'll see. Stage 2 was quite bad in this run too.

Have you tried putting the inp inside the inp folder and then picking playback through the drop-down menu? That seems to fix the invalid inp error at least.

Ah, I wasn't putting the input file in the inp folder, that's what the issue was. Works for me now!

Figured I'd give a quickie score run a go after my survival clear to see what +1 speed and using bombs to save discomen would do.

Normal - Type B
Squire Grooktook - 3,348,340 - 5 - 3/Roll - 2678 - Shmupmame v4.2

Will keep working on this, this game is soaring into my top 5 list.

*edit*

Thought I'd put in one more quickie run for the night to see how Speed 4 felt...

Holy this is fast.

Anyway

Normal - Type B
Squire Grooktook - 4,027,092 - 5 - 4/Roll - 3267 - Shmupmame v4.2

Pretty happy with this run. Might take a break for now and come back to the game casually later.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE NOTE IF YOU USED FEVER SOS BECAUSE IT CHANGES THE TLB COMPLETELY.

I thought there was no difference between both versions. What's the difference(s) between the TLBs then ? Are there any other differences during the game ?

Cave forgot to unset the final stage's invincibility flag when the TLB stage starts, so players of the JP version are completely invincible in the TLB fight unless they bomb (the bomb routine sets the invincibility off when it finishes). Fever SOS fixes this, so it's a real fight. This is the only difference as far as anyone seems to know.

In reality almost no one is playing Fever SOS because the board is super rare and MAME players almost universally stick to JP versions, and a very small number of people will ever see the TLB anyway.

"MAME players almost universally stick to JP versions" has never been true. The truth is that MAME players almost universally stick to whatever the parent is, unless there's a known difference. For the longest time, Dangun Feveron was the parent, and everyone believed them to be the same.

That would be true if the parent was actually labeled as "Dangun Feveron". Most people refer to the game as DF, though, so when looking for the game in MAME they would get JP version.

It was Dangun Feveron for many years. MAME changed it to Fever SOS a few years back to fit with their policy of "the export and/or latest version is the parent". This isn't an entirely terrible policy to have, but then you get things like Futari BL Another being the parent, which is ridiculous.

Yes, now everyone's been raised on "Dangun Feveron" that they forgot Fever SOS exists.

Square_Air - 4,134,703 - 5 - 4/Roll - 3213 - ShmupMAME v4.2

Not quite a clear, but i'm pleased enough with the score to post it. Still only able to reach stage 5 occasionally, and my first legitimate encounter with the stage 5 boss was sub-par, but progress is progress. Time to start cracking down on some serious stage 5 save state practice.

EDIT: Got that clear :D but it's not a PB, sadly.

I dropped 400k+ with Type B, so I'd like to improve that score, but I don't know if I will since I'm getting bored with the game. I'll keep playing for a little longer though.

Any chance we get to see that replay on yt?

Thanks, but my only motivation to improve would be to get the #1 spot on PSN (13.07m now). I could do it if I got 99.9% of my PB on every stage, but I'm not going to really try unless I can find some more improvements. I don't think there's much more I can do with Roll besides using less bombs on the last boss.

Congrats. Finally bumped me off the top Type B spot after many years. Awesome score.

Thanks! One last update:

Normal - Type B
iconoclast - 13,099,328 - ALL2 - 4/Roll - 5310 - PS4

Normal - Type A
iconoclast - 12,266,994 - ALL2 - 4/Roll - 5016 - PS4

I got the top spot on PSN with Types A, B, and C, so that seems like a good stopping point for now.
