This is now the Progear no Arashi High Scores thread...

Post your high scores here. If the scores get posted often enough I will update at least once a month- though recently the scores had tapered off I won't be checking this quite as often. (Please PM me if I have missed an update) Thank you!

The correct way to post your score in this format is:

{Version}
[Your user name] - [Score] - [Stage] - [Pilot] - [Gunner] - [Extra info-optional bomb/life stock left over after clear]

Japanese HS Thread is set to 35 Places. If you get knocked off the list- you must try hard!

Does anybody know the version of this game in the Casino Arcade in central London?

I'm only at about 3.5 million, but I'm increasing on a weekly basis, and need to get on the high score table!

I'm actually quite proud of my score, as I've only ever played the game in a working arcade, and never at home. It takes a lot longer to get better when you have to get a tube train and a bus to the game, and pay for every credit you try!

Does the title screen actually say PROGEAR? If so, you have the US version.

I've been told the arcade runs the US version, so that's me on the high score Table:

OTA - 3,633,400 - 1-4 - Bolt/Rivet - (US version)

Here's the pic

Update again, but I need to do some research into which setting the arcade I play at have Progear US set at. So that last score might not count too. In fact if somebody can face taking it down before I check at the arcade's shmupmeet this coming weekend, I'd be happy, as I'd hate to be on here unjustified... hopefully it will need putting up again anyway...

Anyway - here's how I'm doing...

OTA - 4,543,870 - 4-1 - Bolt /Rivet - (US version)

Okay- so snatch that old score and wait until I hear back from you to put up the new one, or does the new one stick?

Bridget - 12,788,650 - 5-1 - Bolt/Rivet (Japanese version)

DAMMITALL.

I was SO close to 1cc-ing this tonight..... the last boss was in it's final form, and badly on fire, and THEN I DID SOMETHING REALLY STUPID.

And I WOULD have beaten it if I hadnt ALSO done something dumb on the 4th boss.

GAH.

I'll get this game yet.

Snatch it for now - it seems the arcade might have it on difficulty 2, but I'd rather check before basking in glory!

And as soon as it's confirmed, I'll let you know if the new score can go up...

Sorry!

Right - the cabinet I've been using sets the difficulty at 2, so my high score counts!

Here it is again to avoid confusion; my personal best and officially submittable score!

OTA - 4,543,870 - 1 - 4 - Bolt /Rivet - (US version)

EDIT: Wrongly formatted level/loop detail

I think you mean 1-4, the 1 in the other scores means it's in the first loop. so 2-1 would be the first stage of the second loop

I do - well spotted. Sorry for the disruption to the thread! Edited above and pasted in here! I promise I'll be more vigilant in future:wink:

Well - new high score from the London shmupmeet for me...

OTA - 5,281,940 - 1 - 4 - Bolt /Rivet - (US version)

I actually got a 5.9million on the day, but failed to get the exact score as I was so lost in chatting to other shmuppers... I'll go back there soon though...

Well the Japanese version is a little harder. We talked it over a lot at the London Shooter Meet VI last weekend, and there were some real star Progear players there.

The default on US boards is '2', while the default on Japanese boards is '4'. Apparently however, when you turn the US boards difficulty up to '4' it is still marginally easier than the Japanese version.

Other than that, there's some changes with voice over and on-screen text. I think thats it.

This is proabably getting slightly off tipic. Somebody might be able to say this side of things is better discussed in the strategy section. Not sure...

U.S version

6131420 1-4 Bolt & Nail

Spadgy man, how's it going. After coming back from Casino and playing the Japanese version I have at home, I can honestly say that Mulletgeezer is spot on - the difficulty between Japanese and US versions (when on difficulty 2 and 4 respectively) is so marginal it's hardly possible to tell.

Buy whichever version you like!

I'm good mate. I'll PM you about that Brighton Argus thing when I'm not snowed under at work.

I've got a A board in the post now, so soon I'll have Progear (Japanese version) at home, so I'll be hot on the heels of your scores soon! Or maybe I'll just continue to flounder where I am.

Any time you're up in London and likely to be dropping in Casino do let me know, and I'll try and make it along...

Another high score for me. I beat the level four boss for the first time, but actually scored relatively low compared to how far I got...

OTA - 6,237,870 - 1-5 - Ring /Rivet - (US version)

Can post a picture, but won't for now as I keep updatiung my top score fairly regularly and don't want to overfill the thread. Sorry about that actually Battlesmirf. I'm only updating when really needed, rather than each time I add one point to my run. Should save you some effort...

it's all gravy :) I'll update whenever I see something new, but I do appreciate you trying to limit yourself somewhat :)

For the record- I currently use Yahoo- and all the mail for this place goes to the account I reg'ed with, so I'm not always aware of when there are new scores- so all the bumping doesn't hurt :P
