Finally!

Slap Fight MegaDrive (Normal)
RFP - 588 530 - 2-4 - Auto

It's worth noting there are 2 modes on MegaDrive game: Normal and MegaDrive (MD) types. The MD variant is significantly different from normal ported Slap Fight.

good to know, I haven't had the time to actually play my MD copy yet :D

I will add a separate table for MD mode when a score is posted. (same with the other numerous ports)

Slap Fight MD (Normal)
RFP - 870 630 - 2-78 - Auto-off
(Sorry, didn't notice the point about NOT allowing for runs with the trick)

I noticed another difference between Arcade SF & MD SF (the port).
If I'm not mistaken the shield runs out after time, whereas in MD SF as long as you don't get hit, you can take it through the loop.

I'm working on this game a bit...good fun, the Sega-16 "review" blows (at least I agree with the guy on the overall score, mostly).

One thing I was wondering about...what is up with the plants? Only certain guns will make them "grow," but then you zap them again and they go poof.

afaik, just the bomb and the laser will work.

bombs can unearth any hidden shrubs, but only the laser has the ability to make the weeds sprout into flowers. after they've fully grown, you get points for every shot you take. (autofire comes in handy)

BUT just see it:
llaoyllakcuf wrote:SLAP FIGHT MD
NORMAL (Megadrive version, default settings)
??? Seems that means the BonusVersion - but the score is for the OriginalVersion.

However, tables for both MD-Versions would be fine.

SLAP FIGHT MD
ORIGINAL MODE - NORMAL (Megadrive version, default/standard settings)

NEW:

1,380,780 (3-10) RiverRaider

No suicide trick.

Lost the ship with very good weapons at 3-10  and missed the comeback with the remaining 4 or 5 slap ships total.

SLAP FIGHT MD
MD MODE - NORMAL (Megadrive version, default/standard settings)

367,400 (1-83) RiverRaider so far...

IIRC, it's MID, not MD. Happened to see this giant letter "I" in there.

Maybe I'll post something. Haven't played Slap Fight in a while though.

I couldn't recover after a standard enemy hit me in 7-1. From there on, I wasted all lives to somehow get to 7-8

Got owned right before the final boss wasting all my lives until I finally got enough speed to get to the boss with Shot and gain one extra life... to be owned pretty soon into the 5th loop.

I wouldn't call it a suicide trick. the idea is to see how far you can survive without firing a shot. If you survive sufficiently far (the first pool), you get warped ahead and given a huge score bonus. I've yet to see the limits of how far this trick will take you. I've managed to get warped pretty far. Perhaps with save states on an emulator I can see the limit.

Slap Fight, Megadrive version: lgb - 328.670 - Area 2-8
Slap Fight MD: lgb - 265.210 - Area 1-77

Normal difficulty and using rapid fire for both.

thinking about it now, I agree with you. how about the "no shooting trick".

sorry for the dated response...

Slap Fight, arcade version: lgb - 167.960 - Area 1-62

I... actually prefer the Megadrive port better (the opposite of Grind Stormer and V-V). To be honest, I find this so because it seems harder to see the bullets in the arcade version.

Having said this, I actually like the shield idea as it makes the game harder and the shield not as useful and "cheap". In fact, the arcade version of Slap Fight is definitely the sort of game I would want to see this in.
