4th credit score. Started playing this for the first time in about 3 yrs. Area 9 is ridiculous. As soon you lose a life by those homing green ships is just death followed my death (or my lack of skills). Literally screaming at the TV! I will get the all clear. I must.

I was having a good run here. Area 7 no missing all. Few silly mistakes on 7 & 8 and then in Area 9 it was going strong til I got to just after the repeat of the Area 1 boss. Death = death = death. I'm really pissed off right now.

Try to use weapon II or IV in case you want to play for survival. Also, try to keep you speed to average by pressing Select if things go haywire. Here's some video playthroughs from me that shows how to get past stage 8 and 9:

Thanks for the tips. I usually use weapon II with the shield. I'm finding the game passable, it's just Area 9 once you get to the latter part and if you do happen to die, your checkpoint is the part where all the ships home in on your position. Makes it near impossible to recover.
Turns out after watching a vid. The part i died on was the very last circular enemies groups just before the final boss. I will do it... eventually.

Enemies are very resistant in this mode. Shield items are very helpful.
In the Area 8 I take the weapon IV. But it is not wanted and I lose my favourite weapon. Fortunately I manage to go at the end of the Area and get back my favourite weapon before the boss and before the Area 9. The Area 9... very bad run in the second part of this area... I finish the game thanks to the collected extends.
