Since this is bumped: has there been any news of MBL 1.1? Last I heard it was shown at Cave Matsuri then ?

Is there a way to get Full Voice Mode without a redemption card? Can you just buy it with points?

That's a really strange thing to do. Oh well.

Could I get someones card, and activate on mine, or does it only work for LE?

I received the card with my normal edition.

As cute as Follett's dragon thing is you're not missing out on much, and it only works in vanilla deathsmiles anyway.

I think the voice card was distributed on a ratio. I also wish I had this card but have been unsuccessful in tracking one down.

I hope they don't become insanely rare or anything. I have one but still you know.

I think activating the voices makes your replays invalid too?

And the arrange was... well, I only ripped the Ice Palace off that CD.

Ninja Blade appears to require a Gold account to upload scores to leaderboards, so I suppose there are exceptions.

That's a first on me. It very definitely isn't the norm, and in fact, may be the only example.

According to http://kotaku.com/5370354/cave-wants-to ... ers-global:

Maybe you should open separate thread about that interview, there are lot of interesting things mentioned; Guwange, MMP, Steam, DS, worldwide releases...nothing seems to be set in stone though.

Even though us JP 360 owners are probably pissed off on a certain level, I really hope they bring Death Smiles to the U.S..

I think this game is really cool, and equally as important, is DIFFERENT. I think it would rank pretty high on the top 25 if it made it over here.

Hey, at least we got to play it for a long time before it's (possible)U.S. release. And of course, this could all fall through.

That interview is really interesting.

It seems like Cave has been planning for a while to start bringing their games overseas, and have decided to use Mushihimesama futari to basically test the waters before they jump in.

I wonder if this desire to finally embrace the West ties in to what Capcom's Kenji Inafune recently proclaimed: http://kotaku.com/5368490/capcoms-inafu ... y-finished

Cave's games will sell fuck-all in the West and certainly won't be worth their time in negotiating deals with Western publishers. The best they can hope for is that they can keep the games region-free from here onwards and take advantage of the few thousand extra overseas orders.

RFA sold 35k in the states. That's more than enough for any publisher to get involved in that market.

I don't know if that would be a good example.

RFA was a 3 game bundle, and the US version retailed for $20 (which was released more than a year after the Japanese version). On top of that, Raiden is somewhat well-known in the West compared to most other shmups. I also think the Raiden games have a visual style that's a bit more appealing to Westerners, compared to most of Cave's recent releases.

Cuilan is correct, on all counts. Besides, what makes you think Cave will agree to have their latest masterpeices sold at budget prices elsewhere in the World?

Dont forget Raiden IV. Raiden IV wasn't exactly budget and it sold fairly well. granted its Raiden and presentable on western shelves. DS's lolitastic covers prolly wouldn't fly as well.

only time will tell.

It also wasn't exactly full price (some people still complained that it was still too expensive though, RFA's price must have spoiled them). Also, it's in full 3D and (for what it's worth) included that special disk.

The fact that they're localizing Deathsmiles (announced) in a market where shmups can't be sold at full retail price like an FPS.

But let's wait and see. I'm fairly confident that if CAVE goes with a good publisher it will do better than the Raiden games.

Not all publisher's are the size of Capcom. Thankfully, there are small guys, at 35k is justifable.

I'll believe 35K sales (for DS in the US) when I see it. I'm still adamant that for a small company like Cave, their best, most profitable strategy would be to sell all their games on the download services (XBLA and PSN).

If Cave reduces the bullet count down to 10%, it could be very appealing to a young audience, especially girls and people that are into gothic and anime.

If Cave want this game to be a success in the USA, they need to adapt it to the market. I'm just thinking from the setting/artworks it would well fit those 12 year old anime/goth chicks. If those gals don't have a x360 than compile it for the Wii or port it down to DSi. Or replace those girls with the soldier of Gears of War. It happended with Turrican on Megadrive which became Universal Soldiers. Then you can sell it to 14 year old Halo boys.
